Founded as the Kyung Sung Humanities Institute, it was renamed in to its present name in honor of Sejong the Great , the fourth king of the Joseon Dynasty and overseer of the creation of the Korean alphabet Hangul. Sejong University ranks 8th among Korean peers in world university rankings for 3rd consecutive year. Through the "Find Sejong Alumni Abroad" campaign, the university aims to strengthen the bond between the alma mater and its alumni, as well as to boost the pride and networking of Sejong University alumni living overseas by providing updates on the university and alumni through newsletters. Eligible participants are Sejong University alumni who currently reside overseas, including those who have obtained bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from the university.
