My, how the luxury touring landscape has changed. Since our last comparison test of these two high-performance, 6-cylinder luxos in the year the BMW was introduced and the Honda was mildly updated , the ranks of V-twin full dressers like Harley-Davidson Ultras and the Kawasaki Voyager have swelled to include the Indian Roadmaster and Yamaha Star Venture. With the new Gold Wing, Honda expects sales of its flagship motorcycle to climb back to levels. Could it be the harbinger of a renaissance for luxurious, fully dressed touring bikes that go vroom-vroom instead of potato-potato-potato?

The Ks are more agile, but less stable in turns and much less stable on the interstate behind semis.

Having gone up to about mph, it seemed dead stable. There are always options…. Much more than the Wing. Twisties and acceleration were absolutely fun. If you are going to make big miles in relative comfort and not get up sore the next day, a custom seat is almost a necessity. I looked into how I can modify the Wing to better suit my needs, and found the following things that can be added quite easily. I notice removing the topbox more than removing the trailer. The BMW has been ridden less than an hr in 2 yrs. Despite this, the BMW feels far lighter on its feet compared to the Honda. I only had to use the clutch when stopped and shifts were unbelievably smooth on that bike. Plus, I had a minor hit with a wild turkey and the costs to repair a BMW blew my mind and took many months just to get the few simple parts
The BMW was the smoothest, fastest, comfiest, highest-tech two-wheeled vehicle out there that sports saddlebags and a windshield. Now it has.
So many bikes I fall in love with only to look like a circus bear riding a tricycle once I hop on. That's what paying for their college education got me.
