Like many restaurants that get good reviews from RS, the 4 Leonis has fallen into a complacency of becoming full of themselves, and falling short of their past accolades. Our dishes were skimpy in portion, and way overpriced for what we received. The pear raviolis had 8, yes easily countable, 8 pieces of small puffs of pasta. While tasty, it was not worth 14 euros by Italian standards and compared to other restaurants of equal, if not better quality. The shrimp scampi was shrimp skimpy and bizarre with the heads on shrimp plopped on top of pasta, hollowed out with no meat in them. Our waiter was nice, but seemed to expect a tip after the 7 euro service charge. Based on reviews I've read left by Italians, there seems to be a double standard at this restaurant for locals and tourists.

Has just turned twenty years old and much more than a simple trattoria toscana. This is a contemporary and elegant character local. His Queen is the Tuscan cuisine with typical and genuine dishes , which vary depending on the season and availability of market : panzanella, summer, ribollita and pappa al pomodoro vegetable soups in winter. Inevitable are the steak and the peposo. The quality for the tavern comes first , in fact using only raw vegetables into cuisine. The tradition is honored by the early classics like ribollita, pasta e fagioli, Mugello, tortelli vegetable minestrone, lasagna and tagliolini with truffles. While sea bass, turbot, squid, cuttlefish, Octopus, shrimp can be found only if they arrive fresh from the market. For dessert you can choose from traditional lawn cantucci and vin santo, ice cream, cakes and dessert puddings simple and genuine and always homemade. From March to November you can eat outside on a nice terrace on piazza della Passera , surrounded by plants and flowers. All around, antique shops, art studios and workshops. Here, in this treasure trove of history and magic , as in the past and how throughout the Oltrarno still restorers, framers, locksmiths, carpenters, woodcarvers, painters and antiquarians.

At the typical Florentine trattoria 4 Leoni , the protagonist is Tuscan cuisine with its typical and genuine dishes , which change according to the season and availability at the market : the bread salad panzanella and the bread soup papa al pomodoro in summer, the bread and vegetable soup ribollita and legume soups in winter; and the triumphant bistecca alla fiorentina florentine T-bone steak. An absolutely must-try is our insalata 4 Leoni made with rucola, emmenthal cheese, avocado, and a pesto made of rucola and pine nuts. In summer you will always find prosciutto and melone, tomatoes and burrata, and fresh, young and tender spinach salad. In winter you can choose our brawn salads with orange peel or artichokes with rucola and grana cheese or our autumn salad made with red cabbage, chestnuts, squash, and gorgonzola cheese.

For the ladies I suggest you order the Fagottini di pere e asparagi , handmade pasta with a delicate flavor filled with pears and ricotta covered in a white sauce with asparagus. What a great find! It was very clear the restaurant didn't want to serve us. We tried the pear and cheese pasta based on previous reviews and it was absolutely delicious. Most diners having made reservations. After a scan of the dining area, we were told that an indoor table would be available in about 10 minutes. We too have had disappointing experiences in recommended restaurants, including those recommended by RS. Cozy trattoria a little off the heavily beaten tourist track. For the gentlemen, I recommend the Spaghetti con trippa e finocchietto fresco , which offers a decisively more flavorable introduction to the local ingredients of Floretine tripe and fresh fennel. Quality always comes first: we use only select raw materials and fresh vegetables. Last time we were in Florence, we went to the Golden View more than once. I really like eating at the Trattoria dei 4 Leoni. Fantastic dinner to round out a long weekend in Florence. We entered the restaurant, and asked if by chance they had a table for four.
