As the 50th anniversary of that night approaches, the band has announced a whole heap of exciting new releases for its many fans to add to their groaning collections of ABBA goodness. Perhaps most exciting for any fan, no matter how casual, is a new documentary that charts the band's most successful years. The BBC has commissioned ABBA: Against The Odds, which will look at the band's very fruitful period from to , unearthing rare archival footage and exploring the surprising negativity the singers faced in their home country. The documentary will screen in the UK this May. While there is no news of an Australian release at this point, the band's enormous popularity Down Under all but ensures it won't be long before we get our chance to see it. For those slightly more invested fans, there are also a string of new vinyl reissues to get your hands on. The band had released its second album, also called Waterloo, a month before the Eurovision performance. It was the first ABBA record released internationally and further propelled the band's popularity, helping make it one of the biggest pop groups of the 70s. That album will be re-released on April 5, with a new half-speed master of the original album, a limited-edition box set that collects the three ABBA 7" singles originally released in Fans will also be able to buy those singles as separate picture discs. For a band that hasn't performed together in 44 years, ABBA has been surprisingly active recently.
