I wanted the viewer to feel sympathy for him, or at least conflicted about his motivations.

People have theorized that this is Lemongrab trying to get back to his castle to resume creating life. You may be looking for the current Lemongrab , the deceased clone , the castle or the earldom. He is the creation of Princess Bubblegum and the first of her experiments to go wrong. This indicates he is much more "fluid" than the average human would be. When Princess Bubblegum returns to correct ruling age, the Earl of Lemongrab is unceremoniously fired and he leaves, upset and muttering to himself. Lemongrab also appears to have a certain knowledge of technology, as he designed, built, and operates the reconditioning chamber in his castle. It shows us that the kingdom is a lot more chaotic since Princess Bubblegum is now a carefree little girl, but more importantly, none of them care that Princess Bubblegum is too young to rule a kingdom. When Lemongrab yells at Starchy, Lemon Camel is just as startled as everyone else in the room. Though he enjoys his time slaying beasts and collecting treasure, he is plagued by nightmares of guilt. Lemongrab 1 will be Killed Off for Real. Without enough candy to feed the lemon people the Lemongrabs depart for the Candy Kingdom to pillage all of its candy for food and to create new lemon people, hinting that any compassion they might have developed extends only to other lemon people and not to other creatures overall. In the overall message of the episode, he represents both new players who may struggle to get started and folks whose creative ambitions are smaller in scale. He always carries a sword that has the ability to emit powerful sound waves which can knock people unconscious. At the end of the episode, he seems content with the idea of Lemongrab being happy, as they wave good-bye to each other. Eventually, Lemongrab grows tired with his clone's interference and eats him. In the episode "All Your Fault," he and Lemongrab 2 have epiphanies in which they realize that they want to have a family, and in this process, they learn that they are capable of showing genuine love and affection to their own children, who love them back. This will probably be the most depressing Bubblegum episode ever, and will end with Bubblegum going near to or actually entering the Despair Event Horizon for having to do this. When Lemongrab yells at Starchy, Lemon Camel is just as startled as everyone else in the room. So to protect both the world and themselves from their hungry children, and to also hoard the last of their candy, the twins ironically cast themselves in the dungeon. Lemongrab analysis is coming up hopefully by the end of the week. Andy Ristaino claimed on his Spring that the Earl's sour temper and perpetually unhappy disposition are due to a combination of his willingness to stay bitter, and circumstances that caused him to be this way.
