Alvin and the Chipmunks is a American jukebox musical comedy film [1] directed by Tim Hill from a screenplay by Jon Vitti and the writing team of Will McRobb and Chris Viscardi , based on the characters of the same name created by Ross Bagdasarian Sr. When Dave discovers they have rare singing talent, he has them perform in front of JETT Records executive Ian Hawke, who then plans to trick them into living with him to profit off their success with a world tour. The film received generally negative reviews from critics, who criticized the film's humor and "rehashed kids' movie formula". Three talking chipmunks Alvin, Simon, and Theodore reside in a fir tree alone, after their parents left them to fend for themselves. Meanwhile, struggling songwriter and composer Dave Seville has his latest demo rejected by their chief executive, Ian Hawke who was his college roommate. Hawke suggests that Dave quit writing songs. The Chipmunks hop into a basket of muffins that Dave stole from one of Ian's co-workers and follow Dave home.

Cuoco replaced Amy Poehler as the voice of Eleanor in the film. The plot centers on the Chipmunks Alvin, Simon, and Theodore as they head to Miami after believing that Dave will propose to his girlfriend Samantha, who has a son who bullies the Chipmunks. Along the way they end up in unfortunate circumstances, such as being put on the No Fly List. Alvin invites and hires many people and celebrities, much to Simon's dismay. Though dissatisfied, Dave agrees to take them mini-golfing , where the Chipmunks meet Samantha, who he has been dating for the past few months. While the Chipmunks like Samantha, her son Miles physically abuses the trio. Later, the Chipmunks find an engagement ring in a bag Dave brought home and believe that he is going to propose to Samantha.

First announced by Bagdasarian Productions in , a promotional trailer for the series was posted on YouTube. Animation and half of the show's storyboards are handled by Technicolor Productions in France, while Bagdasarian Productions in the U. In August , Nickelodeon acquired the American broadcast rights to the series. Simulating an anthology of a famous band, songwriter Dave Seville is raising platinum recording groups the Chipmunks Alvin, Simon, and Theodore and the Chipettes Brittany, Jeanette and Eleanor. Dave's patience is tested everyday, but despite all of this, he loves the entire band like his own family. The series takes place in modern society and discusses modern topics such as Dave's technology issues. Others are parents embarrassing kids and parents needing dates.
