I am Arnold from Ludhiana, Punjab, and I come from a family with a sports background. Looking up to my brother, I also decided to follow in his footsteps. In fact, I turned it into an advantage. I decided to share everything with Bright Side so that I can reach more people, in hopes that reading my life story and sharing how my dreams came true will be a source of motivation. I was 11 years old when I started bodybuilding.

I started to win one competition after another.

Can you imagine growing up with just one dream; a dream that you cling on to so badly that without it your life would seem to lose its purpose, and then being ripped apart from it all of a sudden for no fault of yours? That is the teenage life of Anand Arnold in a sentence. A person who wanted to be a professional bodybuilder and weightlifter was outweighed by his own destiny in the form of a tumour and permanent paralysis. How he fought his way back through this situation is the reason why he is touted among the best Bodybuilders of Punjab. Inspired by his brother, Peter Arnold, he joined the gym at a tender age of 13 and ever since dreamt of becoming a professional bodybuilder. To his favour, his body responded quite well to the training, and by the time he was 15, he was mentoring many students at the gym. He started enrolling in bodybuilding competitions to compete with people twice his age, and his physique became a matter of conversation in the bodybuilding circle. Thankfully, the tumour could be removed through a complicated surgery, but it resulted in a paralysis attack from his neck down.

Arriving in Anand Arnold's hometown Ludhiana, I called him for directions. Given his condition, I expected him to give me directions over the phone but I was baffled when I heard the ease with which Arnold assured me and said, "Don't worry, stay where you are, I'll come and get you. This was my first interaction with Arnold, who is paralysed from the waist down, and I instantly grasped the fact that Arnold was not one to let his disability define him. The Arnold of Punjab Born and raised in Ludhiana, Arnold followed his elder brother's footsteps to the gym at the age of 13 and dreamt of becoming a professional bodybuilder. Call it God's gift or good genes, Arnold was able to develop a spectacular physique within a few months of enrolling in the gym and soon started participating in local competitions with bodybuilders twice his age. By the time Arnold turned 15, he already had several students training under him, and his physique became a topic of conversation amongst the biggest bodybuilding names in Punjab. Arnold was moving towards his goal at full speed, and his professional bodybuilding dream seemed within reach. But one day, he felt a shooting pain in his lower back and everything came to a screeching halt. Lateral Damage A fist-sized tumour was detected in Arnold's lower back and the doctors said he had just one week to live.

So I started competing with normal bodybuilders and people with different disabilities. India : 2nd Place. North India; and Mr. Friends told me about it. Relationships 4 years ago. It's only his determination and passion that helped him become 'India's First Wheelchair Bodybuilder' after suffering from a life threatening spinal cancer at the age of Anand found his passion for bodybuilding when he was 13 and won his first title in the same year.

When I was 13 years old I decided to ask my father if he would allow me to join the gym, but he said no. He was our family hero and I wanted to be just like him. Anand Arnold.
