As much as this device looks the same compared to the older RGM , I can assure you there are some hefty changes to the visual aesthetics. When I first pulled it out of the box it felt different, and I needed to closely inspect it to realise what those changes were. It still features a stunning 3. The button layout is identical, with some minor changes to the now coloured action buttons. These action buttons do sit tighter to the shell, so sometimes I noticed that they get stuck and need a more forceful push. Another major upgrade is the new analogue sticks, they have now added hall joysticks meaning they use magnets to read the input allowing for more precise feedback and less physical parts which prolongs the life span. These are recessed into the shell allowing you to transport the handheld in your pocket with it getting snagged.

Here we go again, another device from Anbernic. Not exactly unexpected, when the RG and devices went with metal, plastic, and vertical versions, with the even throwing in a bonus design with the MP. The RGM ditches the nostalgic form factor of the V , instead adopting the brick form factor that has been popular in their recent devices. It does manage to impress amongst its peers and, due to many factors including the metal build and the fancy new sticks, ends up being perhaps the definitive device. Now at that price, I think we can agree this has left the relatively budget playground that previous devices even in the line have entertained. Make no mistake, this is a premium product, meant for diehards and tryhards — I mean, discerning individuals with refined tastes of course. Probably not the quality you look for in a handheld purchase, but our audience is diverse in their proclivities, so you never really know. Obviously, sporting the same chipset as the previously reviewed V , there are going to be a lot of similarities between that device and the M. For those who have seen that review, buckle up for just a touch of deja-vu.
