We launched the site back in May after two local papers which we worked for and who carried fairly extensive GAA coverage folded. After a discussion John and I came up with the idea of an online GAA forum dealing specifically with Gaelic games in Antrim in order to promote those games within our county and so the Saffron Gael was launched. In the eight months we were in publication in we had , views on the site. The site has had over 5,, views to date which proves that there is a massive interest in what we are doing in Antrim and indeed much further afield. In , , and we carried reports and photographs of the majority of ACF League and ACH League games and covered every hurling and football championship game played in Antrim and followed the winners of those championships on their Ulster journey. Last year there was no Ulster or All Ireland club series but hopefully that will resume in and if it does we will be there to bring you coverage. We extended our coverage to the Camogie and ladies football championships and will endeavour to cover as many championship games this year as is physically possible. As you may gather such coverage is time consuming and involves quite a large team of photographers and reporters which in turn incurs a lot of expense.

I'd say the squad was more nervous last week than this week as winning our own championship was the main priority and now that monkeys off the back there is no great pressure.
