Crop plots must be placed under a greenhouse ceiling to receive the bonus. The greenhouse ceiling must receive unobstructed sunlight. The only way to test unobstructed sunlight is to see if you can fill your water jar when standing there during rain. If so, you can use a greenhouse ceiling there.

Other Greenhouse structures are entirely cosmetic. When the Greenhouse Effect is granted to a Crop Plot, its crops grow significantly faster but continue to consume Fertilizer at the usual rate. Because of this, the Greenhouse Effect increases the crop yield per unit of fertilizer. A fully upgraded greenhouse needs to be larger 3x3 or more. Build 2 walls these do not have to be greenhouse , then build Greenhouse Ceilings over the entire area. Sloped or flat does not matter. Establishing a farm helps survivors or tribes become self-sufficient. Crops can be used to feed survivors and majority of tamed herbivore creatures that in return produce eggs or feces. There are plenty of 'farm animals' or creatures like dinos. Farming is a bit labour intensive but it has long term payouts. At current max capacity berry bushes can hold up to berries at one. During their time spent on the Arks, most Survivor learned that coexistence has benefits.

Like I'm thinking a simple 8x8 over the ocean I live on a beach with a instant drop into deep water Its my perma base, I like it where I live, so is 8x8 a good idea?
