The Avan Aspire is available in a wide range of configurations, from the also available as a pop-top to the , the largest in the Aspire line-up. Over the years, the company has expanded and evolved its offering. Though that classic A-shaped camper remains one of its signature rigs, but not its best-seller. That interior finish remains available, of course, but the Allure design package considerably brightens things up. And while the layout is effective for two people, it is outdone by the contemporary interior design. The package now comes with enhanced facings for the cupboards and overhead lockers — the doors now cover the entire box of the cabinet behind. A suite of LEDs, including strip lighting and even a strategically placed light in the entryway grab handle, adds a new level of class. The rack will hold seven bottles of wine. Apparently, Avan customers have been telling the company to hurry up and build a dedicated spot for their happy hour drinks.

Never again will I consider purchasing an Avan. I have had numerous issues with my Avan. The van is one of their newer models so all I can put it down to is lack of research and testing before manufacture. The stand out issue was the total lack of interest by their customer service department. It took three months of emails and phone calls to finally get some results. They even suggested that I deliver the van to their Melbourne manufacturing plant to get the repairs completed. Not an easy task when you live in another state.
I had an A'liner 2B floor plan for 7 years and the times with that were the most enjoyable in our camping experience. We had an earlier model and it had the lower walls which meant it had the smaller fridge, around about that time they started to bring them out with higher walls and a larger fridge, can't remember the capacity now, will be on the A'van website somewhere. I did change my tyres to commercial tyres and still found I had enough room under the guards to accommodate the tyres and up and down movement. I had a standard road model. I did take mine on a very rough corrugated and stony road near Nimbin that seemed to go on forever, a retaining bolt fell out of one of the overhead when up wind out hatches but otherwise survived that trip ok. Later towards the end of the 7 years, the large rear wind out window of mine wore through the aluminium rivets on the three hinges that held it to the body, and I nearly lost the hatch into the Gt Australian Bight when a very strong Northerly wind blowing out to sea go under it, is SWMBO had not seen it in time before we turned into the wind it would have ended up over the cliff in the drink

There are a few small companies around who are family operated still and they do produce good units, but they make to order, so you must be prepared to wait. In fact, some are even heavier than a similarly sized and equipped timber-frame, aluminium-clad caravan. I made the shower arm a fold down one. Aussie toughness adds weight The thicker sandwich panels used on many Australian vans are not only heavier than on the Euro vans, but also often 'stick and tin' construction. I purchased the canvas lining from Tebbs a company close by in Dandenong. A friend who used to sew canvas tents kindly trimmed the canvas and sewed on Velcro as I requested. We come from WA where we bought it and currently in Melbourne where it went into their "service centre" for a couple of warranty repairs - which it now takes it up to warranty repair 38!!

Our current van has done about 55, kms. Desert Dweller. The can still be sourced from boat chandlers though in different configs and names, where they are highly prized.
