Back in the summer of , OnePlus unveiled the OnePlus 7 Pro and it was clear that OnePlus is ready to make world-class phones while still managing to keep the prices within the reach of most premium phone buyers. I reviewed both the T series OnePlus devices and ever since its launch, the OnePlus 7T has been in my pocket for the majority of the time. My friends often ask me when they see me using the OnePlus 7T as to why, as a tech reviewer who is supposed to be using the latest and greatest in the world, I use the humble OnePlus 7T and not super expensive iPhone 11 Pro or a Samsung Galaxy Note. Nothing less, nothing more. From OnePlus itself came the OnePlus 7 Pro and later the 7T Pro with faster 90Hz display having no notch and minimal bezels, great cameras and a premium design. Using these fancy phones feels great but living with them on a daily basis isn't easy. That's where the OnePlus 7T comes in, offering everything that you want from a premium phone while sticking to the core aspects of a good smartphone -- performance, practicality, design and value. The OnePlus 7T offers 80 per cent of what you get from the OnePlus 7T Pro but in a package that makes more sense every time you take it out of your pocket or purse. What has OnePlus done right? The OnePlus 7T defines fast for a premium phone's performance. It offers the latest Snapdragon Plus chipset and that's capable to run any app or game you can throw at it now. It will also manage to do that two years from now, given that the chip has been designed for gaming phones. On top of that, OnePlus squeezes every ounce of performance with clever optimisations of its Oxygen OS, which is not only fast but sets a benchmark for UI refinements and practicality in the Android universe.
I was able to capture great photos in good lighting and think it will serve well for most people.
Been using it for a few weeks now and I honestly have to say that the phone surprised me a lot. Unexpected statement? Let me explain. In my eyes, there were 3 phones in the past that could be described as core OnePlus. The OnePlus 3 started the hype and outperformed all other phones on the market. In fact, I just gave mine to a friend last week.
It wasn't that long ago that OnePlus had the simplest phone lineup of any company. It had a single phone that it updated and replaced with a new version every 6 months. It even did so with a predictable cadence, alternating between full-generation updates and subtle "T" refreshes. It was also really great about releasing the same phone around the world, so it didn't matter where you lived — you could get basically the same OnePlus phone. Now, things are surprisingly complicated. OnePlus introduced the "Pro" moniker, making room underneath it for a separate less expensive line To try and ease the logjam of new devices, OnePlus has subsequently split the releases between different regions globally. And it's also started to keep older models in the market longer than before. Then there are 5G versions of phones for certain carriers, and special-edition McLaren phones just to add a little flair.

It's truly crazy to think about all of the new technology that is launched in one year. Hundreds of phones, hardware advancements, new software features, and even new form factors made headlines this year. So what was the best of the best? Here's a quick breakdown of our picks. Check out the full explanations below the chart. When I reviewed the OnePlus 7 Pro back in May, I called it the best smartphone of , with the obvious caveat that the year was only halfway over. Over 6 months later with the phone as my daily driver, and my mind hasn't changed: the OnePlus 7 Pro has only gotten better over time. Besides the occasional rushed update, there's no obvious flaw or shortcoming with the 7 Pro. Its display is still superb, even if it's not the only device with a 90Hz display.

It also has the same processor and can take wide-angle photos like the OnePlus 7 Pro if you're into that. I still want the headphone jack back and if that's not possible, pair the phone with wireless earbuds. Extra wide-angle and 2X zoom cameras. If we have made an error or published misleading information, we will correct or clarify the article. Topics Shopping review smartphones OnePlus. Unfortunately, none of the problems we had with the 7 Pro have been fixed in the OnePlus 7T. Performance is good but battery life is a bit weak, lasting a day of usage but not much more. The Mate 20 Pro has the big, attractive 6. OnePlus are definitely going in the right direction. Multiple Buying Options Available. Other things to consider Wireless charging: convenient, but slower than via cable and normally a charging pad doesn't come in the box Durability: generally glass on the front and back of the phone makes it more fragile Resale value: iPhones hold their value better than most others OLED versus LCD: OLED screens emit their own light so have much deeper blacks and more vibrant colours, while LCD screens are cheaper.
When I shared my first impressions of the OnePlus 7T Pro a few weeks back, the sum of my observations was that nothing much had changed since the last generation.
That's where the OnePlus 7T comes in, offering everything that you want from a premium phone while sticking to the core aspects of a good smartphone -- performance, practicality, design and value. Battery life varies drastically between devices, and "all-day battery" often doesn't mean 24 hours between charges. You can choose break durations ranging from 20 minutes to 60 minutes with daily reminders and Zen mode notifications. This is useful when you need to show someone how to do something on the phone, record gameplay or whatever else. I plan on much more testing of the OnePlus 7T too as I continue to test its performance and keep it updated. The three-way ringer switch continues on the upper right side and I'm very pleased that this stand-out feature remains. In fact, I just gave mine to a friend last week. Truth be told, the design is basically uncharged since the mould-breaking iPhone X from There isn't a lot to say about the camera, either. Photos that needed extra processing time like Nightscape or portrait shots also took a reasonable amount of time to render.
