Blighttown

Blighttown is a location in Dark Souls.

This section deals with everyone's favorite area: Blighttown. I'm not going to sugar coat it. Blighttown is a massive pain in the backside. This area will test everything you've learned so far and more, so make sure you've visited all the areas detailed beforehand before you even contemplate venturing here. You should also bring Toxic healing herbs, which is an even more potent version of poison.

Blighttown

It serves as a gateway to Quelaag's Domain , which then leads on to the Demon Ruins. You can also progress to The Great Hollow and subsequently Ash Lake from here, although you don't need to access either of these areas as part of the main quest. The entrance to Blighttown can be found in the same room as Domhnall of Zena. Acquire the key to unlock Blighttown by defeating the boss of the Depths : the Gaping Dragon. This path can be taken only after killing the Taurus Demon. This path can be used right after entering from the Valley of Drakes entrance. Down We Go - From the big doors in the Depths , make your way proceed to the left side of the gargantuan hole to find a ladder, followed by some more ladders. At the bottom, a club-wielding Infested Barbarian will welcome you, appropriately. You can climb back up the ladder if you want to deal with him at range. Before proceeding, you will notice a lower level to your right with three Infested Ghouls hanging out below. If they spot you, there is a ladder at the far back to the right that will allow them to come get you. Keep to the left for the time being, to avoid getting spotted by them. First you need to deal with the two more Infested Barbarians ahead Tip: It's possible to lure the other Barbarians back to where you entered the area.

To your right you'll see a blighttown with an item at the bottom of a short drop; dropping down to it will cause you to fall through the floor to a lower level, blighttown.

The enemies are equal parts dangerous, aggressive, and annoying. But Blighttown is deceptive. Because of how challenging it is, it feels both more important and more complicated than it is. Blighttown exists to give you items and to convey you to the next Bell of Awakening. There is a path that leads through a lot of twists and turns from the first bonfire to the second and, from there, straight to Quelaag and the second bell.

This section takes you to the fabeled region known as Anor Londo. Ah, Anor Londo. Take in the sprawling vista below you when you land, slap down a message that says "Praise the Sun" or "Gorgeous View" then proceed on your merry way down the steps. Anor Londo is a vast place and will truly challenge you. It may not be as poisonous as Blighttown was but this is still one dangerous area, so if you're struggling, be sure to go back to an earlier point and level up a few times before coming back to Anor Londo.

Blighttown

Blighttown is perhaps the most despised and notorious area in the entirety of Dark Souls due to its abysmal frame rate and obnoxious poisonous sludge, but beneath the surface of its rage-inducing difficulty, players will discover it tells one of the most somber tales in the series. The Dark Souls franchise excels at telling cryptic stories with its environment that can be easily overlooked, and Blighttown is an excellent example of Miyazaki's adept understanding of how to craft a rich world that feels genuinely real and lived in. Dark Souls ' map is extremely vertical in a literal sense, and Blighttown is one of the lowest points that players can visit. The area can be found after plunging through the depths, an underground sewer infested with mutated rats, cannibals, and animated toxic sludge piles. The town is based on a plethora of structurally unstable and decrepit wooden planks that are home to mutated man-like beings and ogres with rotten flesh and large wooden clubs. It's suspended above a poisonous swamp alongside the stone structure that holds up the Firelink Shrine, and the planks reach all the way down to the murky waste below. The atmosphere is oppressively bleak since almost everything that moves in this toxic marshland has been deformed by the contaminated mush that engulfs the entire landscape.

These barbarians fight with giant boulders, which cannot be blocked and cause massive damage. It serves as a gateway to Quelaag's Domain , which then leads on to the Demon Ruins.
