To help appease concerns, Human Torch -- who'd long enjoyed a playfully prankish friendship with the Wall-Crawler -- gave him a spare version of the classic Fantastic Four costume to wear. He also gave him a paper bag with eyeholes cut to serve as a mask, and -- as one final indignity -- put a Kick Me sign on his back. Spider-Man was forced to web-swing back home in this costume, stopping an active crime and being photographed as a potential new recruit to the Fantastic Four. The Bombastic Bag-Man has been referenced in-universe a few times since then, such as during the "Identity Crisis" storyline. It has even come back recently as a costume for Peter to use while retraining following a serious injury fighting the U-Foes.
