State law currently doesn't allow such sales in grocery stores. The Retail Liquor Association of Oklahoma says the move could devastate small, locally-owned businesses. According to him, stores like his will still get sales on specialty products. You still need to come here and get your ciders and everything else that Walmart won't be carrying," argued Wilson. He says it's the same conversation the state had with SQ , which allowed for high-point beer and wine sales in grocery and convenience stores in Oklahoma when it passed. In Wilson's view, "Bourbon is a huge trend right now, so everyone thinking that Walmart's going to all of a sudden get all these private barrels which is a thing that is huge in the bourbon world, they just won't. That's not something they're interested in.

Wal-Mart is leading the charge to change state law and remove requirements that alcohol be sold in stand-alone stores separate from other types of products. Advocates say 34 other states already allow grocery stores to stock and sell hard liquor without major issues. Greg Steube, the sponsor of the legislation, said he wanted to change laws that dated back to Prohibition to make it easier to do business in Florida. Publix, the state's largest privately owned company, has made a strategic decision to oppose the proposal because of concern that its big-box rival could take advantage and grab a chunk of the lucrative liquor sales market that Publix has already invested in. Publix operates dozens of liquor stores across the state, generally next door to one of its grocery stores. Walmart has been more reluctant to embrace that model and instead focused on getting the law changed so that vodka, tequila and other hard liquor could be stocked next to the beer and wine already allowed in grocery stores. Last year, a House and Senate bill containing the liquor store provision died without getting a hearing in either chamber. The House Business and Professions Subcommittee approved House Bill Wednesday on a vote, though the liquor store component is just one of many pieces of this legislation, which addresses various state laws concerning beer and alcohol. Two Republicans and two Democrats voted against the bill largely because of the liquor store provision. Several other committee members said they voted "yes" but hoped the liquor store piece would be deleted before the bill gets to the floor for a vote. Because of HB 's other provisions, it has the support of the craft brewing industry.
According to Brandy walmart, "If you've been to Walmart and looked at their beers selection, they may give six or seven spots to local beers.
CBS12 — A standoff between a woman armed with a knife and a sheriff's deputy in the shopping aisles of Walmart came to a dramatic conclusion in central Florida. Video shared by the sheriff's office shows a deputy telling the woman repeatedly to drop the knife. The deputy holds her at gunpoint as others in the store continue with their shopping. After a while, the deputy holsters his gun, pulls out a Taser. He orders the woman to drop the knife. She refuses, so he zaps her. She falls backward into a store shelf before the deputy puts her into handcuffs.
KABC -- Dramatic body camera video shows a deputy in Florida deploying a Taser on a woman who was allegedly high on meth and threatening customers with a brick and a knife inside a Walmart store. It happened on Wednesday, March 30, at a store in Summerfield, Florida, located northwest of Orlando. According to the sheriff's office, year-old Brandy McGowan went inside the store wielding a brick and began threatening customers as she was walking around. Investigators say she found a pocket knife for sale and began opening it with a pair of scissors from the store. Once she got the knife, the sheriff's office said McGowan continued to threaten workers and customers until deputies got there. The video shows the deputy deploying his Taser as McGowan falls to the ground. According to the sheriff's office, she had ingested approximately four grams of methamphetamine earlier in the day. She was sent to the hospital for evaluation. The sheriff's office says she'll be booked into jail upon her release. FBI tells Alaska Airlines passengers they may be 'victim of a crime'.
