In essence, the Chevrolet Camaro Bumblebee was the start of the entire live-action, explosion-heavy Transformers movie series. You guys know the story. Then it throws him into a universal battle with alien robots that weirdly disguise themselves as American muscle cars. Bumblebee is then reborn as the at-the-time brand new 5th-generation Camaro concept. That was nearly 10 years ago, and today, the Camaro has been through 5th-gen refreshes and Chevrolet even launched the kinda-new-but-not-really-but-also-completely 6th-gen. Another concept to completion on this Transformers 1 Camaro Bumblebee Tribute! A photo posted by Skepple Inc.

Old-school animation fans of Transformers will remember the car was a VW Beetle. When the Transformers movies started to be made, a model Chevrolet Camaro took over the role. Its color changed as time went on, too, changing into an amber-looking shade. Bay also decided to simply let the Autobot communicate only by some radio signals, according to HotCars. The director explained that in the Transformers movie, he wanted a car that was different from another well-known automobile. But the Camaro dings up the Beetle, making it stand out a little more to customers. What was that? Meanwhile, the VW Beetle appears in the film titled Bumblebee. The bot appears again yet is seriously damaged following a fight with Decepticon and Blitzwing. It is this version of the Camaro that movie fans love.

Despite doing a little transforming itself throughout the movie series, the Camaro remained a beloved part of the franchise. The original Bumblebee from the s was a Volkswagen Beetle. However, in the newest iterations of the Transformers, he was reborn as a Chevrolet Camaro. Although he began as a classic, he was later updated into a Concept model and even shifts color from yellow to something more akin to amber in various movies. No matter which form Bumblebee took or what color, though, he remained a fan favorite and continued to evoke a sense of nostalgia all around. Bumblebee made one of his first on-screen appearances as a member of the protagonist Autobots group in an animated series, Transformers, back in the mids. In this and the later animated film, Bumblebee appeared as a Volkswagen Beetle. When Michael Bay decided to use his directorial skill to bring Transformers to the big screen, though, he had the iconic Autobot take on a new form as the Chevrolet Camaro SS, although he kept the muteness of the original that allowed the bot to communicate only through select radio signals. In the special features segment of the movie , Bay noted that the original form reminded him of an existing iconic car: Herbie from Love Bug.
