A man will today January 11 be sentenced for killing a 'devoted' dad in Canvey Island. Matt Portwood, 42, was found with serious injuries in the car park close to Iceland in Furtherwick Road at about 1. Matt was fatally assaulted as he tried to break up a fight in the supermarket car park last February. The fight had broken out between two groups of people outside The Haystack Pub nearby.
