In its uncooked state, the roots of cassava are toxic to humans and pets. Plant cassava in the spring after there is no more danger of frost. The plant needs at least eight months of warm weather to produce a crop. Give cassava a location with full sun and deep, fertile, and moist soil. Cassava is a large plant so make sure it has ample room to grow.
