Back to Civilization VI.

Here on this page, we'll be explaining not only how to earn Era Points which go towards your Era Score, but also how these play into the concepts of Great Ages and their various forms, too. A quick note: we've refreshed out Civ 6 guides for the game's launch on Nintendo Switch, but just be aware that they contain information regarding the Rise and Fall DLC as well as the base game, which means some things only apply if you have that DLC! If you've played any other Civilization games, you were probably wondering where Golden Ages went come Civ 6. Thankfully they're back, albeit this time in a much deeper and richer system than before. Here's the basics of how they work:. Civilization 6 's Rise and Fall expansion introduced the concept of Ages to Firaxis' historical turn-based strategy. Based on the successes of a player's civilization during each Age of the game, they'll either enter a Dark, Normal, Golden, or Heroic Age in the next. The most beneficial of these is the Heroic Age, which offers Civilization 6 players a selection of powerful bonuses for their civilization, but is also the hardest to achieve. This means that players cannot enter a Heroic Age as their first Age in the game, and cannot ever enter a Heroic Age without being in a Dark Age first. There are hundreds of ways to earn Era Score in Civilization 6 , but in order to earn enough to exceed the Golden Age threshold, players should focus their efforts on the Dedication they chose when first entering the Dark Age. While Dark Ages are generally something that players will want to avoid, the unique Policy Cards they offer and the chance of achieving a Heroic Age afterward can make up for the Loyalty penalties. In fact, purposefully entering a Dark Age in order to set up for a Heroic Age is a viable strategy, though the expansive nature of the Era Score system can make this hard to reliably arrange. Besides the strong Loyalty bonus that they share with Golden Ages, the true benefit of a Heroic Age is that they allow players to pick three Dedications, two more than they'd get in a Golden Age. Which Dedications are available depends on which Era the civilization is currently in, but there are a few that players should look for specifically. Exodus of the Evangelists can provide a massive boost to early Religion, allowing players to spread their Missionaries far and wide or quickly acquire a Great Prophet. Main Game.

Third, if you surpass expectations and actually manage to fill the Golden Age meter for the next era, you will gain a Heroic Age! Your Traders cannot be plundered by any means.
