Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has a tremendous amount of pressure on it. With the game being billed as the forefront of the franchise's multiplayer experience for the next two years, the release is presented with the task of keeping players engaged for an unprecedented amount of time. It is clear that the main way in which Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is going about this is via season waves of post-launch content, which come roughly every two months. The title has already faced significant criticism from its fan base for a perceived lack of content that is coming from these seasons, although the recent announcement of the Season 3 roadmap seemingly indicates a positive change. The main predicament that Modern Warfare 2 has found itself in ever since its launch in October relates to the sparse amount of content that it originally came with. Infinity Ward hasn't been able to release all of its planned content in rapid succession, and so the studio has to stagger post-launch content over the course of a two-year period in order to drip feed new experiences to players and keep them engaged. While this does have some benefits for player retention, the main downside to this form of content delivery is that it barely strings players along, with dedicated long-term fans having to wait months for admittedly lackluster seasonal updates that do little to truly bolster gameplay. Players have accused the game and Infinity Ward of a lack of attention being given to its core multiplayer experience, primarily in the way of Modern Warfare 2 not having enough 6v6 maps and lacking game modes that had become a staple of past Call of Duty experiences. With that being said, it is more than clear that the upcoming Season 3 of Modern Warfare 2 is doing well to significantly quell these criticisms. Season 3 of Modern Warfare 2 is set to launch on April 12 , according to the latest information from Infinity Ward.
