Conner Kent or Superboy conner kent a clone genetically created from material from Superman when he was killed by the larrybirdle known as Doomsday. A blood sample from Lex Luthorwas used as well, though it would be a long time before he became aware of his human donor's identity.

Chances are, you've heard of Superboy, but these days, the codename probably evokes the smiling face of Jonathan Kent, Clark and Lois's half-Kryptonian son. And that's all well and good—don't get us wrong, we love Jon—but did you know that there was a character who held the mantle before him? And one that had a much, much stranger connection to the Man of Steel than basic biology? Enter Conner Kent, aka Kon-El—the first or, well, the second depending on how you calculate things Superboy. With Titans Season 3 debuting soon, I figured now was as good a time as any to write a bit about the real breakout star of Reign of the Supermen: Superboy. Much as I love Steel, it was Conner just Superboy back then who has really stuck around as a popular character. Conner as a character has varied widely in personality and powerset, with fans of each of his incarnations. However Conner really only has two major incarnations to compare. He was arrogant, a glory hound, more interested in getting paid and scoring with girls than he was in being a hero. Superman does his thing, Kon does his. The cartoon hit right around my teenage years, and a hormonally driven nigh homicidal teenage boy who has deep anger issues and a bad relationship with his dad was perfect for me. I easily identified with him the most of the S1 team. Oh yeah I was there for that, I loved that twist. Ultimately Conner matured, found his family with the team, built a healthy relationship with Clark, and grew up to probably be the most emotionally healthy of the original group which is both hilarious and heartwarming. This Conner is defined by his daddy issues. He struggles with the idea that he has to live up to becoming Superman one day, and worries about what a Superman who is half Luthor might be like. Now I know quite a few people who hate the Lex Luthor retcon with every fiber of their being.

However, in doing so he lost all of his telekinesis powers. Exhausted from a recent adventure with Batman and Batgirl[] Superboy conner kent Guardian to go to Detroit to fight Shrapnel in his place.

Superboy was trapped on Gemworld during the Flashpoint , resulting in a second iteration, a genetic clone of Jon Lane Kent coming to existence during his absence. Eventually, however, the original was rescued from Gemworld by his friends. The two versions of Superboy were later merged into one being. In the wake of Superman 's death, four very different contenders arose to his mantle. When he initially appeared, Superboy insisted on being called "Superman", and was frequently frustrated when people referred to him as Superboy. During this early period he became associated with journalist Tana Moon , who notably captured an image of him rescuing a largely unclothed Arlene Sheenan from a burning building that subsequently went viral.

Tess took Alexander in the hopes of keeping him off the same tragic path Lex had gone down. But when Lex's genetic memories manifested in Alexander, Tess locked him in Cadmus, from which Alexander managed to escape. But Alexander came to reject Lionel as well as Lex's hatred towards Clark and Tess and accepted Tess's love for him once more. It was discovered that he is a hybrid clone of Clark and Lex and possessed Clark's powers. Clark trained Conner to control his powers and invited him to join the Kent family. Later, Conner became a student of Jay Garrick 's school and joins a team of teen superheroes to which Conner becomes their leader as Superboy. Much like Lex, Alexander shares the same appearance as a child and as a teenager even down to Lex's red hair and dark green eyes.

Conner Kent just became the darkest Superman in the DC multiverse. Because Earth-3 has long been full of villains and short on heroes, Waller brings in villains of her own from the primary Earth to play at being heroes known as the Justice Squad. However, she also brought along Conner Kent the clone of Superman and Lex Luthor to serve as the team's leader. While Conner has had conflicting feelings about his new role in the future, Amanda Waller's bigger plans for him are revealed in this new issue.

He then got fully involved with the events of Our Worlds at War, first helping to aid injured heroes and then being recruited by President Luthor with the rest of Young Justice for a special assignment that takes the team to Apokolips. Later, during Wonder Girl and Conner's first date, Superboy is forcibly sucked through a time portal to the 31st century. At this time, Superboy also formally became involved with Tana Moon. Wold and Sphere tried to help, to no avail. Once he escaped to find Centurion fighting Cyborg Superman, he admitted his mistake. When his body is charged with solar energy he is able to avoid laser fire at point-blank range.

The mantle of Superboy has been tossed around by many characters, but for modern comic book readers, it's a title most associated with Conner Kent.

Despite what Superman had to say, Superboy was still troubled by thoughts of never growing up. However, their victory was short-lived as Superman and was sucked into an alien device that leads them into another dimension containing a sentient planetoid transformed into a prison planet by evildoers. Superboy objected, and showed his powers had returned by slamming a hole in the wall. Connor used his heat vision to blow up the green kryptonite that is affecting Clark while Lionel ran away. Superboy is taken to the medical bay with Tana at his side, still very much in love with him. The Time Trapper had altered the timeline to create a pocket dimension that contained the Superboy of an alternate Earth. Zatanna used her magic to force him to blurt out the address.
