Coromon switch
Nintendo Switch.
After a longer wait than I might have wanted, the Switch version finally released. Fun fact — hunting for mushrooms can be pretty darned addictive! Real quickly, let me say that I have a ton of respect and appreciation for the author who reviewed the PC edition of the game. Now, while Coromon is a ton of fun once you get going, there was a small issue that slowed me down from actually starting the game. The first thing it wanted me to do was sign into my Nintendo account, despite the fact I have my Switch set up to do that automatically. Once I got past that hurdle, which likely is meant to allow cross-platform play between PC and Switch, I started to enjoy myself much more. And though I love that series overall, I started to get really tired over the years with the incredibly minuscule updates GameFreak made with each subsequent release.
Coromon switch
Coromon Switch eShop. If imitation is the highest form of flattery, then Coromon is the greatest love letter ever written. It stops just short of being a direct imitation of those games but was clearly created to cater to fans who loved those generations and have been craving more of them. We have to admire the ambition of developers TRAGsoft. When you look to emulate one of the most popular gaming franchises of all time, player expectations will be very high. If there is one thing that Coromon has no shortage of, it is charm and soul. Your specific task is to collect the essence of the six Titans that populate the Velua region where the game takes place. Of course, there is a shady organisation working behind the scenes to use the Titan essences for their mysterious, nefarious purposes and it is up to the player to stop them. Coromon takes this familiar formula and offers a few twists and changes to it, but largely it plays things very straight. Type match-ups are at the core of the battles here. There are seven different types of Coromon out in the wild, plus six that are restricted to attack types, each with their own weaknesses and strengths. It can take hours to move from one area of the map to another due to the sudden increase in difficulty offered by new trainers.
While staying loyal to the core gameplay, we wanted to add new coromon switch but also keep the iconic retro look, with a modernized pixel art style.
Reviewer's note: In the interest of accurately representing the complete game, I have chosen to post this review unscored until I have been able to see more of the world and advanced gameplay. I would like to mention that I do feel confident in recommending Coromon at this time on Switch. And I think the creators of Coromon have realized this. But I was struck by how fresh the world and design of Coromon feels. It makes some dedicated efforts to invite comparison, but also shows how Coromon tries to bring its own ideas to the table.
We were charmed by TRAGsoft's take on the monster-collecting genre, Coromon , when it launched this summer after a short notice delay. Now, we've got a reason to go back, as the developer announced that a brand new update has dropped for the game. It's a beefy update too, and the first one for Switch, with the two major headlines being Trait Enhancement and the reduction of RNG. Trait Enhancements allow you to cancel your Coromon's evolution or even devolve it to benefit from improved versions of their trait. RNG reduction comes in two forms — one, some skills, traits, and weather effects have been tweaked to reduce their 'randomness'; and two, 'Reduced RNG Mode' has been added to the game's single-player campaign, and it will be enabled by default for online matches. For all of the changes, bug fixes, and more, here are the full patch notes from the game's Steam page :. This game's sometimes-simplified take on the monster-catching genre might not be for everyone, but it's a solid alternative to Nintendo's major franchise, and this update looks to make many changes that will help make the grinding that little bit easier.
