The largest of the online cruise communities, Cruise Critic features cruise reviews, industry news and cruise articles and forums. The cruise forums are probably the most valuable aspect of the site, with most of the activity in the forums organized by cruise line as well as by cruise ports and other cruise topics. You can find a lot of useful information here from experienced cruisers. Ask a question about a specific cabin on a specific cruise ship, and you have a good chance on not only finding someone who has stayed in that cabin, they probably even have pictures to share with you. On the downside, the technology behind the forums is not particularly good, and they can be slow and cumbersome to use. All Things Cruise is dedicated to the joy of travel. Specializing in ocean, river, ultra-luxury, small ship and expedition cruises.

I knew that the cruise would be very different from cruising with American and British cruise lines. The ship turned out to be so much better in some ways, and also so much worse than I could have imagined in others. Embarkation was very easy and as soon as I stepped onto the ship I started to realise what it would mean to be cruising on an Italian cruise, from Spain. The majority of guests around me were speaking Italian, Spanish, French or German. Walking into the central Colosseo Atrium area was incredible, It felt so bright and light and modern. The Colosseo, as well as being the atrium, is also a performance area in the middle of the ship where they have acrobatic shows. We would often sit here during the day, and I was really impressed when walking into this space. By the entrance to the restaurants and the buffet, they have hand-washing machines that literally wash your hands for you! You just put your hands in, the water and soap spins around and the water stops when it is done. Normally cruise ships will have some hand sanitiser near the entrance to the restaurants, or a sink if you are lucky. I hoped that the rest of the cruise would be this high-tech.
I quickly got used to not being able to understand what anybody around me was cruise citic, and in some ways, it was really nice. Marseilles In Marseilles, there is a free shuttle bus that takes cruise guests into the city centre.

More energetic and with more extra-fee attractions than its three Solstice-class predecessors, the ,ton Celebrity Silhouette debuted in July as the fourth of five ships in the now-iconic series. Solstice-class stalwarts won't miss a beat, and for first-timers, the Celebrity Silhouette cruise ship will showcase why the series was an innovator in modern cruising. The Celebrity Silhouette refurbishment came in The Solstice signatures -- a stable of themed dining venues, a public hub that smells of waffle cones, a strikingly green and grass-covered deck space, the use of glass and marble throughout -- are all there. But Silhouette also reflects a handful of significant modifications to the blueprint. The most visible are found on the Lawn Club, a square of real grass that tops every Solstice-class ship's stern sun deck area. On Silhouette, the public park has become something of a gated village green, and the space is much more exclusive -- and expensive -- to use than those planted on Solstice, Eclipse and Equinox. However, the addition of a giant screen showing movies and games has given this space a more egalitarian feel.

Freedom of the Seas launched in May as the world's biggest cruise ship, measuring , tons, carrying 4, passengers and introducing Royal Caribbean's now-widespread FlowRider surf simulator to the cruise industry. Although the ship is no longer the biggest in Royal Caribbean's fleet -- that title is held by the line's newer Oasis-class ships -- its public spaces don't feel outdated. During a dry dock, Freedom of the Seas got a major upgrade, especially in outdoor spaces like the pool deck. The cheery new features include bright and charming casitas, a bustling taco shack and the Lime and Coconut bar. Cabins are virtually the only spaces untouched by the massive project, leaving them feeling a little worn and dated by comparison. While the ship can hold 4, passengers, Freedom of the Seas doesn't feel crowded. That's not to say that the ship feels empty or small. Sometimes there's congestion in Windjammer at peak times, you'll wait in a line a short line, but a line nonetheless to disembark at tender ports, and dinnertime can be a bit noisy with hundreds of others chowing down around you. At the same time, it's never hard to find quiet, private nooks. The library, Internet cafe, Cafe Promenade, Vintages wine bar and even the Solarium pool are great for getting-away-from-it-all moments, particularly on port days.

I loved everything about the outside spaces and wandering around it felt as though the ship just went on forever and ever.
