While discussing the show's final season, Insider asked Reedus if there was anything he wished would've played out differently with his character, Daryl. One of the moments he brought up was Daryl's relationship with Leah Lynn Collins from the show's most recent season. Gimple previously told Insider were " written with producibility in mind ," were smaller in scale and scope, and featured limited cast members onscreen. Daryl's first relationship was explored in these episodes, but it didn't go exactly how Reedus imagined. After 10 seasons of going it alone in the zombie apocalypse, many fans wondered if the fan-favorite would eventually wind up with his bestie Carol Melissa McBride or Connie Lauren Ridloff , who joined AMC's apocalyptic drama on season nine and forged a bond with Daryl and his dog. Since Daryl didn't have any romantic entanglements for 10 seasons, other fans read Daryl as asexual, with some viewers sending Reedus mail thanking him "for being asexual. Though Daryl's sexuality was never commented on in the show up to that point, "TWD" comic creator Robert Kirkman said in that the character was " somewhat asexual on the show.
Daryl and leah relationship
While the main point of The Walking Dead was surviving a zombie apocalypse and the evil humans left behind, there was more to the series than just survival horror. It was important to prove there could be a future worth living for, and that includes finding love and starting families. Rick Grimes lost his wife and son, but he found love with Michonne. Negan found a wife, and even Eugene found someone who loved him for who he was, and they had a child to raise in what they hoped to be a better world. However, the one person who never found love was Daryl Dixon. Daryl started the show as someone who was almost subservient to his brother, but once he joined Rick and the other survivors, he became so much more. Daryl became a protector and a leader, and he was one of the main reasons that the people who survived made it to The Walking Dead finale in one piece. However, through it all, the one thing that never happened was a Walking Dead Daryl Dixon love story. There were people that fans shipped with Daryl, with Carol Peletier at the top of the list. Despite this, Daryl became a lone wolf to the end, when he rode off by himself into the sunset. Leah is the closest Daryl has ever come to an actual Walking Dead relationship.
It's interesting, right? She even pursued a sexual tryst with Negan, presenting it to him as a reward for a job well done, but that might daryl and leah relationship been simply for the sake of positive reinforcement. Stay up to date with what you want to know.
Holy hell, Walking Dead fans, the day finally arrived! Granted, Daryl and Leah's flashback-set relationship didn't exactly start off on the right foot, and it definitely didn't end well for anyone, not even Carol. But for some of that time-lapsed period before it all went south, Daryl seemed to find genuine love and companionship, with the bonus of meeting Dog for the first time. CinemaBlend spoke with Lynn Collins about making her entrance into and possible exit from the Walking Dead universe and taking on such an unexpected role within these extended Season 10 episodes. When I asked if it was intimidating to join the series for such a compacted character storyline, here's how she answered:. I mean, I wouldn't say intimidating, I would say just really exciting. You know, I've been around the block in this business, so not much intimidates me, but a lot excites me.
The Walking Dead fans already knew that Daryl spent years living on his own after Rick's apparent death, but in Episode 18, "Find Me," we finally got a chance to see what he was up to all that time. The episode, largely told through flashback segments, was partially an origin story for Dog and partially a tale of Yes, Daryl finally found himself an apocalypse fling with a stranger named Leah Lynn Collins. While on his own, he stumbled upon her cabin and a puppy we now know to be Dog named, surprisingly, not by Daryl but by Leah. We learn that she'd been fending for herself after losing her family, including an adopted son, and generally preferred the solitude until Daryl came along. However, one day Daryl came back to the cabin to find her gone — she couldn't deal with his reluctance to commit, apparently — and left a note for her to come "find me. It's a surprising first for Daryl, who's never been romantically linked to anyone on the show despite having close friendships with Carol, Beth, and most recently Connie. The woodsy backdrop and tragic love story lent a Virgin River feel to the episode, and it all would have been very sweet and romantic if not for the fact that we still don't really know: who is Leah? Though we learned a few small details about the mysterious woman in the woods, Leah doesn't seem to have a counterpart in The Walking Dead comics and Daryl doesn't even exist in them. That could make their relationship exciting, but it will likely disappoint fans who hope Daryl will end up with Connie, his good friend who has been missing since earlier in Season 10, or even Carol.

Spoilers below for anyone who hasn't yet watched The Walking Dead 's latest flashback-filled episode. For anyone who might have thought The Walking Dead didn't have a lot of new tricks up its sleeve, the episode "Find Me" upended fan expectations by giving Daryl an honest-to-Dog romantic partner in the form of Lynn Collins' Leah, even though there wasn't actually a whole lot of visible romance to be seen. But was the lack of physical intimacy detrimental to Daryl and Leah's vibe? Definitely not, according to Collins, who thought the characters' situation was still really sexy regardless. Now, by this point, Walking Dead fans know better than to actually expect the sometimes hermitic and introspective Daryl to turn into a lip-locking Casanova the first time he got together with another woman on the show. As such, it actually felt pretty natural for his relationship with Leah to grow and evolve without passionate kisses. And though pandemic safety protocols were the key reasoning why nobody got to first base, it might surprise viewers to know that the writers weren't too high on making that happen anyway.

It was a sweet moment as Daryl revealed he was now fluent in sign language so he can talk to her and he seemed very pleased to see that she was finally happy. Thank goodness Lynn Collins was already a big Walking Dead fan before she landed the role of Leah, since it would have been somewhat disappointing to have such a memorable new character being played by an actress who didn't fully realize Leah's impact on one of the drama's longest-surviving characters. You can opt-out at any time. In fact, Reedus even went so far as to say he thought the relationship was "a little rushed. I think he's got a lot of admiration for her, you know? It's clear they both had a thing for one another and that bond remained strong. One of the moments he brought up was Daryl's relationship with Leah Lynn Collins from the show's most recent season. Now, by this point, Walking Dead fans know better than to actually expect the sometimes hermitic and introspective Daryl to turn into a lip-locking Casanova the first time he got together with another woman on the show. Perhaps he'll find eternal happiness with a nun in France. However, there is no one in Daryl's life that he cared about more than Carol - and that might include his own brother Merle and his closest friend Rick.
While many fans suspected this relationship was included merely because of the bonus six episodes added in Season 10, this appears not to be the case. Already, it is known that the six extra episodes added by AMC after the coronavirus pandemic hit aimed to delve into the lives of the main characters and are not designed to move the main plot forward. However, with the announcement of Seaosn10C, there was obviously time to tell this story a little sooner than that.

For more than a decade, Daryl Dixon Norman Reedus of "The Walking Dead," undoubtedly one of the biggest stars of cable television, went without a single love interest. The worst of the romances was with Bob, as Sasha was a battle tested warrior and Bob was more of a meek individual who put people around him in danger. But in Lynn Collins' mind, leaving the characters' more illicit acts off of the screen, and solely in the imaginations of viewers everywhere, it's a more fulfilling experience for audiences. Sasha did strike up two romances on the show, first with Bob and then with Abraham. And how much can she even express her true feelings and love, when she knows that showing that vulnerability in the community that she's in will make her an outcast? The two of them fought until Daryl showed up to shoot Leah in the back of the head, moments before she would have fatally stabbed Maggie. Viewers saw tell-tale signs that Carol and Daryl have a thing for each other as far back as the first two seasons. Gimple previously told Insider were " written with producibility in mind ," were smaller in scale and scope, and featured limited cast members onscreen.
