Dragon Ball Z 's "Saiyan Saga" is one of the most iconic arcs in anime. It marked Piccolo's turning point from brooding baddie to begrudging ally, introduced fan-favorite martial arts master King Ka , and revealed the intergalactic origins of the now internationally famous Son Goku. The "Saiyan Saga" also introduced audiences to the franchise's villain-turned-hero Vegeta and his subordinate, the monstrous mountain of muscle Nappa. Since his first appearance in Episode 5, Nappa has cultivated an unshakable, devoted fan base. However, despite his dedicated following and low-key popularity, Nappa is also unfairly dismissed as something of a stock character or -- much worse -- a punchline. It's true that Nappa was effortlessly dispatched by Goku upon the latter's return from Other World and that Nappa's power was empirically inferior to Vegeta's, but Nappa proved himself as the arc's superior villain by virtue of one important metric: body count. These three held the topmost positions of power among the six Z Fighters available to challenge the Saiyan threat, and Nappa defeated each of them without a qualm.

Oh wait, don't tell me. I think I know what you need. A nice trip to the afterlife. One way, of course. After his race's demise, he, along with Vegeta and Raditz , worked as soldiers directly under Frieza , which led him to Earth. Nappa is the secondary antagonist of the Vegeta Saga. Nappa is a tall and muscular man. Though his Saiyan genes give him the appearance of someone in their mids, Nappa is approximately 50 years old when he is first shown in the series. At this time, he looks identical all the way to the time of his death, though his structure in his younger years shows him to be a bit slimmer. He appears in Battle Armor with large shoulder, hip, and crotch guards, black underwear, armored fingerless gloves, and armored boots. While he tends to wear the same model of armor, it has appeared with multiple different colorations, such as navy and beige, black and brown, and black and beige. His thin mustache tends to change with each part in his life; as at middle age of 30's his mustache smaller in comparison than it is now; by the range of the Saiyan Saga, Nappa's mustache is slightly larger, longer, splits into two sections noting he tends to shave his facial hair on occasion and then it grows back fully during the year one radius to Earth. His mustache has grown slightly thicker and noticeably longer. It is also split into two sections again, but noticeably has peach fuzz in the middle noting he shaved it sometime while he was dead, and it is growing back. Like most Saiyans, Nappa wears a scouter.

Whenever Vegeta tells off Nappa for acting asinine, dbz nappa, or not listening, Nappa apologizes to Vegeta, usually in a slightly fearful state, and then proceeds to claim he was not thinking straight, showing his respect for Vegeta. Rappa heavily resembles Nappa, though with Raditz's long hair and wears a Metamo-Ring on his left aritizia.

Unfortunately, it is revealed his confidence is due to having achieved Super Saiyan 3 as a result of the anomaly. Nappa planted six seeds to grow into Saibamen which he boasted were almost as strong as Raditz to fight Yamcha , Tenshinhan , Chaozu , Kuririn, Gohan, and Piccolo. After that, he destroys another city with his Exploding Wave. Nappa spent the time going on a rampage by destroying cities, boats, and planes in the manga and in Kai, he destroys a camp set up to film the event, as well as a few jet planes. Before the fight can continue, Vegeta decides to pause it for three hours to allow Goku to show up, finding it amusing that Krillin, Piccolo and Gohan have so much faith on such a low level Saiyan warrior as Kakarot. It is also split into two sections again, but noticeably has peach fuzz in the middle noting he shaved it sometime while he was dead, and it is growing back. Nappa powers up in Battle Taikan Kamehameha. Bulma asks Vegeta if he got lonely camping out in the wilderness and came to the Capitol for her company, only for the Saiyan Prince to brush off her off. One Saibaman was capable of killing Yamcha, who was unaware of their secret ability of exploding after he'd managed to beat it down handily. When in battle, Nappa often gets very excited and, in a sense, treats his opponents in an animalistic viewpoint, referring them as his "toys" or "prey", this is demonstrated in Dragon Ball Xenoverse where, if the Future Warrior trains under Nappa, he'll refer to the Future Warrior as his "prey" and would prefer the warrior gives him a good performance instead of "breaking" them too soon. He mocks Raditz and calls him by his nickname, Raditz the Runt , when Vegeta notes they would have conquered the planet much faster if not for Raditz' weakness. This sacrifice was nearly in vain, and now nothing could stop Nappa from killing Gohan.
Appearing as the second in a rolling roulette of super-powered villains in Dragon Ball Z , Nappa accompanied Prince Vegeta to Earth in order to collect the seven Dragon Balls for the sake of wishing for immortality. After the demise of Goku's long-lost brother, Raditz, Nappa and Vegeta filled the role as the Z Fighters' primary antagonists.
He is also hostile towards Android 17 when the Park Ranger kills several of his Saibamen for endangering the local ecosystem in a Extra Pack 2 DLC Parallel Quest, indicating Nappa cares about the Saibamen he grows with the exception of those that he grows for training purposes. Inside they and Goku confront Vegeta, who has reunited with his comrades Nappa and Raditz who survived or were seemingly revived by the anomaly. As Vegeta exits out of the training room, Nappa gives Vegeta his armor and remarks the prince as the best, but Vegeta tells him to quit bootlicking. Despite this, however, he usually congratulates his victims when they utilize attacks that come close to killing him, as evidenced when he congratulates Tien Shinhan on his use on a Spirit Tri-Beam that shattered his Battle Armor , citing that, had his aim been better, it would have severely injured him. However, whenever chastised by Vegeta, he always addresses him with very polite language, as one would normally address a superior. When Piccolo attempts this plan, Nappa elbows Piccolo on the head, knocking him out. After seemingly finding nothing, Great Saiyaman 3 is about to order the two to look elsewhere, when the sky starts to fill with dark clouds, indicating the presence of an anomaly. He is also slightly insulted when the Warrior gives him a toupee as a gift, though takes it anyway indicating he is sensitive about going bald due to his age. Nappa is stated to be one of the few mid-class warriors boasting a power-level of 4, Despite this, when he was partnered with Vegeta and Raditz , he was the most honorable of the three before Vegeta reformed. Nappa leaps into the air. Nappa attacked Gohan, bullying him, sitting on him while face up, and threatening him with fart jokes. However, Vegeta is not surprised noting that keeping up with him is a prerequisite of those that swear fealty to the Prince of all Saiyans before welcoming them to the show, noting that Hell hath arrived for them and encourages them to run around as it will make the hunt more fun for himself and his subordinates. It is implied that Nappa follows Frieza mainly out of fear and due to his grudge against Vegeta and Kakarot which is shared by Frieza and the Ginyu Force. At first Nappa's training consists of the three fighting groups of Saibamen one after the other in order to build up their stamina.
