We needed to come up with a solution to create some clothing storage for 3 sisters within a reasonable budget.

In this post I am sharing the before and after images plus the pros and cons of using IKEA cabinetry over custom. To give you a bit of an idea of what this space looked like before we started renovating it - here are a few images. Note these are NOT my clothes : These were images I took before we bought the house when the previous owners still had their clothes in the old wardrobes. As you can see it was a bit of a dark and miserable space - but it definitely had lots of potential with the views out over the National Park! So while I was still thinking about it I drew up some custom cabinetry and had this quoted by a joiner. Unfortunately due to my expensive taste haha! There are many ready-made PAX combinations to choose from. You first need to measure the space you have — from floor to ceiling and from wall to wall. Available frame heights are cm and cm but be sure to allow an extra height clearance of 1 cm if you want hinged doors or 4 cm for sliding doors. You also need at least 1 cm clearance to assemble any PAX wardrobe upright rather than raising it from the floor. Widths are 50 cm, 75 cm or cm and the depth is either 35 cm or 58 cm. You can choose between two colours of PAX frame — white and white-stained oak effect. To match the frames, you can choose between a variety of hinged doors 25 cm or 50 cm wide or pairs of soft-closing sliding doors cm or cm wide. Of course, you can skip the doors entirely if you want an open wardrobe. Knobs or handles complete your hinged doors and you can easily replace them when you want to refresh the look. Have a good think about what you will store in your wardrobe, so that you can add exactly the interior organisers that you need. With lighting for your PAX wardrobe, you can add the finishing touch and make your clothes easier to see. There are lighting options that you can control with IKEA Home smart, as well as sensor lights that operate automatically when you open or close the door.
