Diamond league track

The Wanda Diamond League is athletics' premier one-day series. The competition encompasses 15 of the sport's most prestigious one-day meetings, diamond league track, with men and women competing in 16 of its primary disciplines. Athletes compete for diamond league track at 14 series meetings from May to September, with the most successful in each discipline qualifying for the Wanda Diamond League Final in Eugene September 16thth.

The Diamond League is an annual series of elite track and field athletic competitions comprising fifteen of the best invitational athletics meetings. The inaugural season was in While the Golden League was formed to increase the profile of the leading European athletics competitions, the Diamond League's aim is to "enhance the worldwide appeal of athletics by going outside Europe for the first time. Beginning in March , after the Russian invasion of Ukraine , the Diamond League excluded Russian and Belarusian athletes from all of its track and field meetings. The number of Diamond Disciplines was reduced from 32 to 24 and a second Chinese meet was added to the calendar. The dual final format was replaced by a single final. The original Diamond League scoring system, used from to , awarded points to the top three athletes at each meeting 4 points for first place; 2 points for second place; 1 point for third place.

The first day of action will see six Diamond League champions crowned during a street event on Sechselautenplatz before the remaining 26 titles are decided on the second day of competition at the Letzigrund Stadium track preview field preview. The Diamond League , also known as the Wanda Diamond League for sponsorship reasons, is the twelfth season of the annual series of outdoor track and field meetings, organised by World Athletics. The season sees an increase back to 32 Diamond Disciplines from the 24 originally planned for the Diamond League. A new award will be introduced for the "Best Performing Athletes" which will recognize ten athletes five men and five women for consistent top placements. The following fourteen meetings are scheduled to be included in the season.
