Cheesy title, I know. Basically this book is about the complaints and ideas I have about different fandom things.

Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2 follow the underground District 13, led by President Coin and supported by the efforts of war strategist and soldier Gale Hawthorne and medic Primrose Everdeen, among others. It quickly becomes clear that both Katniss and Prim are merely filling pre-determined roles in a much larger plot that was put in place without their input. Eerily similar in many ways to her role as tribute in the Games, Katniss is once again relegated to being the "star" of the conflict. Donning makeup and outfits that were carefully selected for her, she films 'propos'- snapshots of video that portray her as a front-woman on the battlefield in the war against the Capitol- a role that, in reality, is kept from her despite great frustration and effort. Katniss only manages to catch snippets of the war effort's progress and schemes, while Gale and Prim serve as boots on the ground, attacking and healing respectively.

Reasoning: Yes, Gale designed a weapon, and this weapon went on and killed Prim. But this was war. Gale was trying to win, and he had no idea that Prim would be there. Do you say that the person who invented the gun killed every gun victim? No you don't. If the gun wasn't invented, those people wouldn't have died in that manner, so yes the inventor still was indirectly involved with those people's deaths. Conclusion: Yes, Gale was indirectly involved with Prim's death, as in if he didn't create the bomb then she wouldn't have died. But what if someone else invented it? Gale did not kill Prim.

Keeping Katniss largely in the dark about the uprising's strategy also suggests that there are some unsavory elements to their tactics.

He did, technically, at least have a hand in it. Throughout the last book, Katniss is bothered that Gale seems to be getting closer to Coin and the district 13 higher ups. He also helped engineer the bombs that ended up killing Prim during the final battle. Katniss is bothered by the idea of the bombs in the first place, bc their meant to be traps; go off, and then detonate a second time as if to fake a false sense of security. Coins plan was always for the bombs to go off and kill the capital children, Prim included. But Gale had no idea that Prim would fall victim. Katniss feels betrayed bc 1 Prim was killed as a direct result of the bombs he made.
