Dodge grand caravan ac blowing hot air
I had this problem Dodge caravan of AC on driver side while the passenger side blows heat. I tried all the recommendations through out this thread but the only thing that works was resetting the dials by moving them simultaneously from cold to hot and back again several times while the car is on. I had to do the same thing for the back control.
We bought a dodge caravan mainstreet used. Right away we noticed that the passenger side and the rear vents only blow heat. The driver side will blow cool air or AC, but the passenger and rear blow high heat no matter what the setting. We brought it back to the dealer and he said it was the dials that were broken. We believed that because the rear dial just spun freely. They replaced the whole interface and it worked for a short time. Now the dials all seem to work appropriately, but again the passenger and rear vents blow high heat no matter what the setting.

Four Season after-market have worked fine as replacements, and much cheaper than Mopar. Before you go that route though, try running a reset through HVAC controls. Nothing like getting blasted with full heat on a hot July day in Georgia. For automated HVAC controls: 1. The automated reset procedure takes about 1 minute, during which you should see one test diode flashing on the HVAC controls.
If my van is out of warranty, I fix it because I am quite stitchfiddle and refuse to pay someone ridiculous wages for something I can do. I followed the instructions above and turned the nob from hot to cold with a slight downward pressure and valla!

Weak airflow to it will reduce its efficiency. Check to ensure that the electric fan over the condenser is engaging. A faulty compressor will not move the refrigerant through the system properly. When a cabin air filter gets dirty, airflow is reduced. If there is no air blowing from your Caravan at all, the blower motor is at fault. The good news is, they are not that expensive and are easy to replace most of the time. The blend door controls how much air-conditioned and heated air enters the cabin. Most modern blend doors are controlled by the computer via actuators. These actuators can go bad.

There are a few different reasons why the AC might not work in your car. If the air conditioning in your car is blowing hot air on one side and cold air on the other, there could be a simple fix like adjusting the temperature or it could be time to replace a part like the temperature blend door actuator. Problems with the HVAC control module can be further diagnosed with an advanced scan tool , but here are some common reasons why the AC might be blowing hot and cold air on either side despite the set temperature settings. Sometimes the AC blows cold on one side and hot on the other because the settings are set that way. This can be remedied by adjusting the temp on the cold side or vice versa to the preferred degree. If this happens, the module might read inaccurate data, leading to an inaccurate temp and requiring recalibration. If the program needs to be recalibrated, sometimes it can be reset by disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery for about 5 minutes.

I am so glad I found this forum, will try some of the above fixes and let you know what and if any work :. If you need help Coming back on the highway km trip in 11 degC weather spring's been cold , we tried to use the heat - nada. Same problem as above on my dodge caravan. Sure I might have to do it again at some time, but it is free and only takes about 5 minutes. So in the end they "reprogrammed MTC module" and replaced "actuator, temperature door" front passenger. Older vans - mostly had 'slider' controls for separate heat controls and I gues current have rotary dials. Dodge is a crappy van my dodge caravan has the same issue on top of radio popping on for 5 minutes and going back off. He could not locate his manager but called me back an hour or so later and left a message stating that based on what they are seeing that they don't think Dodge will cover it under the recall or otherwise. The site keeps track of issues etc. I'm not in a great hurry to fix it as it is still heater time here in Michigan. Still under warranty, but I don't want any run around from any service department. Have to do this each time for it to work.
Getting Started - Prepare for AC recharge. Open the Hood - How to pop the hood and prop it open. Replace Cap - Replace the AC low pressure port cap.

Well I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best! At that time it was still under warranty and they told me all they needed to do was re calibrate the controls??? Lots of times I had to leave messages etc The plastic may break to where nothing will hold right if you try too big or coarser screws. FCA will repair your vehicle free of charge. Enter the VIN see if the recall pops up. Glad I looked this up to see that this is quite the issue, and have some ammo when I stop tonight!
Quite right! It is good thought. I call for active discussion.
