He is usually the one who always disappears in the movies and then eventually reappears, especially in the first one who has to marry Alan's younger sister, Tracy Garner, stays all the time under the sun stuck on the roof of the Cesar Palace during his farewell to celibacy. He cares a lot about his wife and usually gladly agrees to look after his brother-in-law, Alan. He also feels admiration in his sister-in-law; Linda Garner.

The next day, Phil, Stu and Alan awaken, unable to remember the previous night. Doug is nowhere to be found, Stu's tooth is missing, the suite is a mess, a Bengal tiger is in the bathroom, and a baby is in the closet. They see Doug's mattress impaled on a statue outside, and when they ask for their Mercedes, the valet delivers a Las Vegas police cruiser.

Douglas Joseph "Doug" Billings is best friends with Phil and Stu , and the brother-in-law of Alan , with whom he also shares a friendship. He is the most mild-mannered of the Wolfpack. He is one of the two overarching protagonists of the trilogy alongside Sid Garner , serving as the overarching protagonist of The Hangover , one of the three deuteragonists of The Hangover Part II alongside Alan Garner and Dr. Stuart Price. His bachelor party trip to Las Vegas is the basis of The Hangover , although he is "lost" for the majority of the movie as the other three guys are searching for him. Stu finally puts the pieces together and figures out that they locked Doug up on the roof of Caesar's Palace, where he gets severely sunburned with no shade in the desert heat. They end up getting him back "better late than never" to his wedding, where he is forced to get married with a beet-red sunburned face.
