Why provide instant grades on the selections of prospects who have yet to take an NFL snap?
The rookie class has seen its fair share of stars already make their names known across the NFL. Ten weeks of football have provided a clear window to evaluate each team's freshest faces from April's draft and a few scattered undrafted free agents. The criteria for a high grade is simple: Production, rotational depth, value and impact from players in multiple games were all held in high regard. While some teams like Philadelphia have a potential superstar in the making with Jalen Carter, more is warranted from the rest of the class, thus keeping them off our list. The ability to add both core contributors and glue guys in the middle rounds ultimately showcases the top annual classes. A Day 2 pick, Tyjae Spears has looked electric in all phases in his rookie campaign and, depending on Derrick Henry's future , he could see his role dramatically increase moving into next year. Multi-faceted weapons such as Spears force matchup nightmares week in and week out, and he's been excellent throughout this season.
Draft grades
Immediate draft grades provide a foundation for future evaluations. Waiting three years to assess draft classes without accounting for how the decision was viewed at the time usually leads to revisionist history. Trades , and the capital exchanged both picks and players , are factored into these grades, as well, as they also play a significant part in determining the future of a franchise. NOTE: Selections and trades in the early rounds carry a heavier weight in the overall grade than those in the later rounds. Day 1 grade: A. Day 2 grade: A. Analysis: Arizona moved down three spots in the first round, essentially netting a first-round pick and still picking the athletic, versatile Johnson to bolster the line. Ojulari, Williams and Wilson were quality picks at need spots, though the latter two will need to put some injury issues behind them. They also picked up selections with two wise trades on Day 2. The offensive line rebuild continued with the smooth-moving Gaines. The fifth-round run on quarterbacks included Tune, who might be a good backup for Kyler Murray. Getting Clark as a slot corner and Pappoe at linebacker were absolute steals. Day 1 grade: A-.
Even if his smaller size poses some issues, draft grades, the explosive Smith has time to grow into a starting role. Roy was an excellent value in the fifth as an active interior defender. LaPorta, who has a spirited play style, gives the Lions the quality receiving option at tight draft grades they've lacked since trading T.

Draft grades
Grading teams' drafts immediately after the event is necessary in order to provide the proper evaluation of their actions in the moment. Waiting three years to evaluate draft classes, without accounting for how the decision was viewed at the time, usually leads to revisionist history. If a prospect is considered a great pick the day of the draft but doesn't work out in the long run, that's a completely different evaluation of his new team's decision than identifying a player who was considered a reach at the time he was picked. Immediate draft grades provide a foundation for future evaluations. These NFL Draft quick-snap grades are an indication of whether I think a prospect's selection is of appropriate value given his college film and athleticism scores. Trades are also factored into these grades, both for picks and players, as they help determine the future of a franchise as much as draft selections. Stellaris workshop
The rd overall selection out of Notre Dame, he's one of just six centers in the game to accrue more snaps at center and fail to allow a sack, per PFF. A lot of the Colts' resources were spent on defense, but Richardson did receive rookie running mates at wideout Josh Downs , tight end Will Mallory and running back Evan Hull. When healthy, he's a confident man corner who lacks size but has excellent feel for the position. The Illinois product's aggressive, assertive style is a great fit, even if matching elite WR speed and strength will be a test for him early. That display against the Atlanta Falcons has earned the No. Kincaid comes with a little risk because of his age, injury, and only one year of major productivity, but he was the best natural separator at the loaded tight end position in this class. He'll outplay that draft position. Signing free agent receivers should be a priority for Atlanta after the draft. While some teams like Philadelphia have a potential superstar in the making with Jalen Carter, more is warranted from the rest of the class, thus keeping them off our list. But the team's overall approach appeared solid, thoughtful and mostly smart, even if Green Bay is always good for a head-scratcher or two every year.

Far and away the favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year at the midway point of the season, he has been electrifying in leading the Texans to a record and should begin to hear his name among league MVP conversations if he keeps up his level of play. McBride went two rounds later than I expected. They smartly addressed their needs at defensive tackle with Lacy and Vohasek and in the secondary with Braswell and Hallett. Was Kelee Ringo worth trading a third-rounder to land? McGuire has the frame to back up Myles Garrett and rotate in up front, especially with third-rounder Alex Wright still somewhat of an unknown quantity. Had he gone to another team in the top 15 or 20 picks, I wouldn't have liked it nearly as much. They did not select a tight end but decided to pick the most consistent punter in the draft in Robbins. Hellams is a solid, fairly versatile safety who lacks great athletic ability namely speed but maximizes it with good instincts and a knack for arriving at the ball on time. Every pre-draft debate about first-rounder Peter Skoronski focused on his short arm length and whether he'd play tackle or guard in the NFL. Zach Harrison was the Falcons' first defensive pick, and it comes at a spot of perennial need. And Reed? Garrett Williams, however, is still rehabbing a torn ACL, but there's optimism he could be back by training camp. The Broncos now appear to be keeping Jeudy and Courtland Sutton after rebuffing trade offers on both.
