Dark Souls is a game where you never truly feel safe.

Despite her rather prominent presence in the Boreal Valley , Gwynevere is noticeably absent from the record during the rise and subsequent tyranny of Pontiff Sulyvahn. There is no mention of the goddess being confined to the Anor Londo cathedral like Gwyndolin, and her old seat there remains empty. Neither is there reference to her being enslaved or otherwise degraded like her progeny with Flann. Where had she gone to avoid the fate of her kin? The answer is that, by that point, she had already gone off and become the Queen of Lothric. Yet now they are handouts from a queen who just so happens to also be considered a goddess of good harvest and grace, in a human kingdom where piety is paramount.

Gwynevere is a character in Dark Souls. She is the Princess of Sunlight and daughter of Lord Gwyn. She gives the Lordvessel to the player and allows them to join the Princess' Guard Covenant. The Gwynevere you see in game is an illusion created by Gwyndolin in order to manipulate the player. Gwynevere is located in Anor Londo , guarded by Ornstein and Smough. Gwynevere only drops the Lordvessel if it was not already given to the player. If the player attacks Gwynevere, Anor Londo will darken as the illusion created by her younger brother fades. All the enemies, except the painting guardians and the Silver Knights, as well as any illusions will disappear. Although Gwynevere herself exists, she left Anor Londo long before the Chosen Undead came to Lordran along with other deities. I know a lot of people seem to only see her for her breast size, but I honestly kind of found her presence soothing. It was nice resting at the bonfire near her since it felt like the only place where there was a sort of feeling of warmth. It was a bit disappointing finding out the reality of it.

Gwynevere appears in the form of a gigantic, fair lady with red hair and a kind face. A light shines brightly behind Gwynevere's figure. Gwynevere is located in Anor Londo , in a room above the hall where Ornstein and Smough battle the Chosen Undead , behind the door with the bonfire in front of it. Upon meeting with Gwynevere for the first time, she grants the player the Lordvessel , which enables the ability to warp between most bonfires. Gwynevere can also initiate players into the Princess's Guard covenant.

Thou shalt not go unpunished! Gwyndolin's followers are few, but their tasks are of vital importance. Although born male, due to magic and association with the moon, Gwyndolin was raised as a daughter. Gwyndolin is biologically a male and is referred to as male by Gwynevere, who lovingly calls him brother. Gwyndolin created the illusion of a sister Gwynevere to help guard over Anor Londo. An unmasking of these deities would be tantamount to blasphemy. This optional boss is located by the Darkmoon Tomb bonfire , in Anor Londo , at the very bottom of the movable spiral staircase, behind a large statue of Lord Gwyn with a corpse lying to the left of the statue. Note that angering Gwyndolin will be considered a sin.
