I was using the Demon Fists for fun with this ring and noticed that a single rolling L1 attack will give you the first buff, and in general I seem to stack it pretty easy. I went ahead and tested with the Cestus to be sure, and sure enough a single rolling L1 gives you the first buff off the bat, and the 2-handed light is 3 hits to get the first buff. I wonder if it was stealth buffed at a later patch?

I personally stack the ring of favor , sun princess , Left eye , and tiny beings. The damage one gives you a minor buff after around 4 lol hits that will vanish if you stop attacking after 4 seconds. Rings that generally help out: Havel's ring , Silver serpent ring , Gold serpent ring , Knight's ring , Pontiff's right eye , and those rings that give damage and defense on full health.
