B5 Models Please discuss all - B5 A4 topics here Thread Tools. I recently got a check engine light on my A4 Quattro with about K miles. After doing some reading, it appears that it is either an 02 sensor, MAF sensor or vacuum hose leak around the engine. I replaced my MAF sensor not 5 thousand miles ago, so I'm pretty confident it's not that. Personally I think it's a vacuum hose leak, but I'm not sure how to go about checking for that.. Should I just inspect hoses around the engine while the car is running and listen for a hissing noise or something? I know its easy and cheap to replace them so I'm more than willing to do it myself, in fact I don't want to bring it anywhere because every mechanic I've been to screws me or tries real hard to. If anyone has any other suggestions as to what might cause this code, I am open to advice. I realize a lot of things can cause a code like this to pop up so I'm not ruling anything out just yet, but I'm pretty confident it's a vacuum hose leak. View Public Profile. Check carefully for leaks loose hoses in on and around the manifold with a good light.
Thread Tools. Well got in my car today after coming back from the car wash to clean up and take care of my debadging I did and she decides to pay me back by throwing on the check engine light next time I went out. I do not know what that means at all or where to start at all besides knowing it has to do something with fuel and it is not getting enough fuel I would assume. Curious if anyone has any idea what it could be or if there is something common or notorious that it could be. Background information.

In the world of automotive diagnostics, the dreaded check engine light can cause anxiety for many drivers. It serves as a warning that something may be amiss under the hood. One of the common culprits behind this warning is the P engine code. In this blog post, we'll explore what code P means, its significance, and how it can affect your vehicle's performance. Code P, also known as the "Fuel Trim System Too Lean Bank 1 ," is a diagnostic trouble code that your vehicle's onboard computer ECU generates when it detects an imbalance between the air and fuel mixture in the engine's cylinders.

Home » OBD Codes. A P code appears in the engine control unit when the oxygen sensor on bank 1 recognizes too lean of an air-fuel mixture for the sensor to correct it. Several different things could cause this trouble code. Here is what you need to know about the P code. The P code indicates that the oxygen O2 sensor on bank 1 sent a signal to the engine control module that the air-fuel mixture is too lean to be corrected. If it needs to be corrected more than that, the P code will be stored. If the air fuel mixture is slightly lean, you will often get no other symptoms from the P code other than the check engine light on your dashboard.

I know it is not the intake manifold because I already had that replaced at 17k miles and the car hesitated like bucking bronco at idle. Have a look at the big rubber elbow at the back of the intake manifold -- mine was decomposing from the inside out. Find all posts by gimmespeed Related Topics. Send a private message to secsup. Personally I think it's a vacuum hose leak, but I'm not sure how to go about checking for that.. So, possible solutions include: Clean the MAF sensor. Should I just inspect hoses around the engine while the car is running and listen for a hissing noise or something? It's going to take way more than that to get me to hand the keys over that counter again. Find all posts by ObnoxiousDrunk.

If you cannot find any leaks, the already-suggested O2 sensors and MAF sensor are good bets as well, but obviously costlier to replace. Questions about the New Whip. And the exhaust seems to be popping a little more on overrun which does sound nice. Also, I was hoping that the part s weren't going to be very expensive. MPG has dropped from 26ish mpg to 22mpg.
