This seems to happen most often with the drakenlord and the goblin siege rollers. They seem to be inconsistently completely immune to anything you throw at them. I've figured out that the siege rollers seem to be immune to projectiles from the front, but the Drakenlord just seems to be literally unkillable no matter what you do.
