The following is a list of characters that appear in the light novel series Durarara!! The Van Crew is a group of friends who travel around Ikebukuro in a van. Though seemingly harmless and amiable, in reality the group are vigilantes who formerly belonged to the Blue Squares, but defected and became part of the Dollars. They do good deeds around the city in the name of the Dollars. At one point, their van's car door was ripped off by Shizuo Heiwajima; Walker and Erika replaced the door, only to give the van a distinctive look by having different anime characters most notably Miyuki Shiba from The Irregular at Magic High School painted on the side.

In Tokyo's downtown district of Ikebukuro, amidst many strange rumors and warnings of anonymous gangs and dangerous occupants, one urban legend stands out above the rest—the existence of a headless "Black Rider" who is said to be seen driving a jet-black motorcycle through the city streets. Mikado Ryuugamine has always longed for the excitement of the city life, and an invitation from a childhood friend convinces him to move to Tokyo. Witnessing the Black Rider on his first day in the city, his wishes already seem to have been granted. But as supernatural events begin to occur, ordinary citizens like himself, along with Ikebukuro's most colorful inhabitants, are mixed up in the commotion breaking out in their city. A sequel series, titled Durarara!! SH set two years after the events of the original series, started in A episode anime television series adaptation was broadcast from January to June It was followed by a episode second season, titled Durarara!! After the two meet at the train station, they set out to explore the streets of Ikebukuro. The "Black Rider"'s real name is Celty Sturluson; she is a creature from Irish folklore known as a dullahan who is in Ikebukuro looking for her stolen head while working as an underworld courier. The narrative follows all of the characters equally, showing how their lives intersect and create a greater plot line from each character's knowledge about a common incident.
