Rainbow Loom is a plastic tool used to weave colorful rubber and plastic bands called loom bands into decorative items such as bracelets and charms. The Rainbow Loom is a plastic pegboard measuring 2 inches 51 mm by 8 inches mm. The resulting looped knots, known as Brunnian links , can be assembled on the loom into bracelets and other shapes. Rainbow Loom was created by Cheong Choon Ng, a Malaysian immigrant of Chinese descent who came to the United States in to attend Wichita State University , where he earned a graduate degree in mechanical engineering. He conceived the idea of a toy loom for rubber-band crafting after seeing his young daughters make rubber-band bracelets. He tried to show them how they could link the rubber bands together but was unsuccessful because of the large size of his fingers, so he stuck a scrap board with multiple rows of pegs on which the bands could be linked more easily. The bracelets became popular with the neighborhood children, and his daughter suggested that he sell them.

We are still pumping out bracelets on the homemade loom. A couple of weeks ago A. Moore, Rainbow Loom or any rubber band company. It was the first time I saw non-charm sort of beads in the bracelets. The annoying thing about making these in our house is that if you want to make patterns, it takes a bunch of time to pick the pony beads out of the bin and then line up matches or coordinating colors. While doing this, I wondered how we could some of the other beads in the box out of my house integrated into the bracelets. I ended up making a few bracelets using larger wooden beads and the basic chain pattern no loom or tools necessary , and I think they came out pretty nice. You can use any sort of beads you want.
