Enemy Pie by Derek Munson is a wonderful picture book to use at any point throughout the school year to explore the themes of friendship, kindness, and sharing. The following activities can be adapted for a variety of different age groups, from book reviews to word searches to story sequencing. Not only does this book provide teachable moments about friendship, but students relate to it and love the surprise ending. Here are some of my favorite activities and resources to pair with this book. It was the perfect summer. That is, until Jeremy Ross moved into the house down the street and became neighborhood enemy number one. Luckily, Dad had a surefire way to get rid of enemies: Enemy Pie. But part of the secret recipe was spending an entire day playing with the enemy! This book companion has a large focus on comprehension and vocabulary.
