Majority of the waste could not previously be recycled; however, the Sustainable Salons recycling program provides a solution to recycle more of the clinical waste used. Sustainable Salons was established in by an Amsterdam hairdresser Paul and a sustainable fashion guru Ewelina. When they travelled to Australia, they found that every year salons sent a total of 1 million kilograms of recyclable waste to landfill.
