Excalibur axiom crossbow
The instructional DVD included with the package was very well-prepared, and it goes over the assembly steps in such detail that even a person who has no idea what a crossbow is will be able to put it together. You get all the screws, bolts and hex keys with the package as well. The first step before cocking and shooting your Excalibur Axiom is to wax the string. This is a mandatory step for any crossbow, and ideally you should apply a new layer of wax for every 5 to 10 arrows fired. Better be safe and stick only to lubricants made by the manufacturer of your crossbow. Once the string is waxed up, I recommend cocking the Axiom SMF with the rope cocking aid supplied with the package. This crossbow has a draw weight of lbs. Your actual results will vary slightly depending on weather, and significantly with arrow weight change. See our Crossbow Ballistics Guides section for a complete understanding of how we conducted our tests and why this data matters. It was deer season and I wanted to go on a hunting trip quickly, so I went to a local range here in CT to sight the crossbow. The sight was actually almost already perfectly sighted right out of the box; the adjustments I made were very minor. My 11 year old brother who had never shot a crossbow before decided he wanted to give it a try; I cocked the Axiom for him, seated an arrow and let him take a shot from 20 yards away; he pretty much hit a perfect bulls-eye three times in a row. On my first deer hunting trip I was anxious to see how it would perform. The first thing that caught my attention was just how easy the Axiom was to carry it weighs roughly 6 lbs.
I did see in the sticky that one poster seemed to be using Firebolts with gr tips. Please consider creating a new thread. Find Crossbow Review:.

It's reticle should be about right for you with a gr total arrow weight and 20yd zero. The deer managed to run less than 70 yards before it collapsed. Your actual results will vary slightly depending on weather, and significantly with arrow weight change. This crossbow has a draw weight of lbs. Would using gr heads have a negative effect on my accuracy? Pros: - Exceptional accuracy - Very low-maintenance and dependable regardless of conditions - Great for beginners as well as advanced shooters. Post by longbow joe » Tue Dec 11, am. That ought to pick me up a few fps. I think could someone confirm? My chrono'd speed at 5 feet from the muzzle is fps. The scope that comes with the Axiom SMF package is of the highest quality — very similar to what you would find on a rifle.

Re: Axiom Velocity Post by longbow joe » Mon Dec 10, pm On my ibex same bow as yours but has a thumb hole stock l have it set at 20 yards is an inch or 2 high then it is dead on out to 60 yards.. We did switch to a 20" bolt with grain insert and still use a grain broadhead. This is plenty of force for medium- to large sized game like deer, elk, moose, and the like, but the crossbow is not quite powerful enough to safely and humanely take on tougher game like Cape buffalo or grizzly bears from a longer distance. Post by longbow joe » Mon Dec 10, pm. That ought to pick me up a few fps. It makes less than 1 inch of difference compared to the grain bolts at those distances. The adjustment on this scope is 1 click for each 0. These were price point bows, so I'll expect SMF. This is a mandatory step for any crossbow, and ideally you should apply a new layer of wax for every 5 to 10 arrows fired. My chrono'd speed at 5 feet from the muzzle is fps. Its basically a under 40 yard bow just like any other ethical hunting shot the heavy bolt is what you want.
All above told the truth. Let's discuss this question. Here or in PM.
