So how do I fix my L button permanently. Im on my 2nd Ds now and on my last one i broke my L button off the circuit board because I blew into it too much. Nobody please recommend blowing into it. Just because something is fictional doesn't mean it's not real. DS switches are dirt cheap on Ebay. Must know: Unlike the plug-in ribbon cable switches for the 3DS, DS switches are soldered directly to the mainboard.
I then spritz'd it a few times with isopropyl alcohol till the surface of the switch was well dosed.

Thanks much bran04don13, been having this problem for a few years but mashing the buttons PLUS simultaneously blowing for a good 2 minutes on on both sides removed the problem! How the DS triggers work: -You push down on the shoulder button, which is on a hinge-and-spring unlike the face-buttons which are flat buttons lying atop rubber bubbles -The inner "heel" swings down and depresses a metal cap or bubble it behaves like the pop-caps of a Snapple bottle -The cap flattens and connects two metal points inside the microswitch it looks like the top of the AA battery; the signal is sent when you press down on the cap and it touches the tip of the battery connecting it with the edges around the top Points of failure: 1.
