In a true turnaround of events, the Ruin content has not only given players a reason to return to Security Breach , but also a host of reasons to get excited for whatever game comes next. Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach has a different play style compared to most of its predecessors. Players take the role of Gregory, a boy who's been trapped inside Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex overnight, and he finds that there are several mysteries hiding there. In Ruin, however, players take on the role of Cassie, a young girl and best friend of Gregory who is on a mission to save him. Ruin takes place sometime after the events of FNAF: Security Breach, with new protagonist Cassie entering the remains of the Mega Pizzaplex which has - according to the local press - been destroyed by an earthquake. Once inside, Cassie finds reason to believe that her friend Gregory is trapped inside the ruins, and it becomes her mission to find and free him. Of course, being a FNAF game, nothing is ever as simple as it seems, and Cassie soon finds herself facing deadly threats beyond her wildest imagination. There's also the validity of the voice she's following, with the question being: is Cassie walking into a trap? The FNAF roster of characters is an extensive one, but Ruin mostly focuses on new faces rather than returning ones. Ahead of Ruin 's release, speculation was high when it came to who might return, especially with the iconic Bonnie animatronic noticeably missing from the Glamrock line-up. Cassie, Map Bot now Mask Bot , Helpi, the Daycare Attendant, a suspicious version of Glamrock Freddy, and new big threat The Entity make up the majority of the characters seen in Ruin , and one notable sequence does go some way in explaining why Bonnie isn't part of the Glamrock line and why Monty Gator is, instead. Despite the mixed reception for Security Breach , the launch of Ruin and its much more scary story has helped redeem the base game in the eyes of many. Security Breach has become a more terrifying and memorable experience due to the additional Ruin content, meaning that those who gave up on the base game have found themselves returning for the DLC.
