The error message in the pic I have attached keeps showing up now and again, brought it for a few runs on the motorway and for about 3 days straight it didnt come on but it started again today for some reason. Any ideas what it could be? It would be impossible for anyone to say what it is, for instance we had a recent problem on my sons card, engine malfunction message and the traction control light on like you have and it turns out to be faulty injectors. You would need to get a code reader on it and see if there are any codes. There is a specific one that I don't have the link for right now which works with Fords, I am sure someone will be along with a link.

Home » Troubleshooting » Ford Focus check engine light is on — causes and how to reset. The check engine light is perhaps one of the most dreaded warning symbols that can illuminate on the dashboard of Ford Focus. In this article, we will delve into the most common causes behind the check engine light. The check engine light illuminates in Ford Focus when the on-board diagnostic system detects a problem with the engine or emissions system. If left unchecked, the issue could cause more serious problems and result in costly repairs. Static CEL: A static check engine light in Focus means that there is a problem with the engine or emissions system, but it is not an urgent issue. The vehicle can typically be driven safely for a short period of time, but it should be taken to a mechanic soon to avoid further damage or increased emissions. Flashing CEL: When the check engine light is flashing in Focus, it indicates that there is a significant problem with the engine that requires immediate attention.

The Ford Focus has proven to be very popular with buyers because it is engineered to be agile, fuel-efficient, and fit for daily drives. Anyway, the Focus is not perfect. It will regularly throw some codes and error messages like the "Engine Fault Service Now" warning on the dashboard. And you will need to go to the shop now and then to solve the tangled issues. But if the problem is with the ignition, for example, you may experience a lot of problems with the exhaust system, catalytic converter, oil dilution, etc. So, you can drive to the repair shop or you can drive home to put the car in the garage. With this scanner, you will know right away what is causing the recurring problem in your vehicle, which will save you plenty of time and will help you more effectively communicate to your mechanic what seems to be wrong with it. According to a significant number of people who have experienced this specific problem though, they claimed that they were unable to detect any fault or stored codes using their devices. Now, this can certainly make it a bit trickier than usual to find the cause of the issue.

I personally wouldn't use anything else, Forscan is a must if you have Ford it does almost everything and you only need a cheap-ish cable and a laptop. Pressure loss caused a 'Check tyre pressure' message, nothing else. I carry a code reader in the car in case it happens again so I have a chance of pulling up some codes. Forscan is not the easiest system to use, but may be the most comprehensive one available for diy use. Each ECU is rigorously tested using our bespoke testing rigs. There is a specific one that I don't have the link for right now which works with Fords, I am sure someone will be along with a link. On the above linked post from Drove through puddle, wont start. Comments on "Common failing Ford Focus 1. I had someone look at it but because I dont drive it much he said first of all I need to give it a bit of a lash in 4th gear that im not driving it hard enough to clear it out.

In some vehicles, the light comes in two colors: yellow to indicate minor problems and red to indicate serious problems. The check engine light is part of every vehicle that has an electronic engine management system, either an integral one or only for fuel ignition. Its function is to alert the driver about any type of engine problems.

It would be impossible for anyone to say what it is, for instance we had a recent problem on my sons card, engine malfunction message and the traction control light on like you have and it turns out to be faulty injectors. This is a cruder system than the proper TPMS that uses wireless pressure sensors, but it only needed a bit of extra software. Forscan is not the easiest system to use, but may be the most comprehensive one available for diy use. Mine had no EML light just the engine requires service warning and limp mode and no problem since. Maybe just coincidence. In fact I am sure these cars do not have tyre pressure sensors. They are usually in the right area, but can be misleading to some extent. Might be worth getting it on Forscan to read the soft codes etc. Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions. I would not have thought tyre pressure would cause Engine Malfunction to show. Posted January 12, Today I'm listening to
