Gulf Islands National Seashore is a fantastic place to camp in Florida. If you are interested in camping at Fort Pickens, this article is for you. Tucked behind the sand dunes of Pensacola Bay on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other, the campground is wonderful. It is located roughly 30 minutes from downtown Pensacola. The park protects roughly 26 miles of shoreline along the Gulf of Mexico and almost 28 miles of shoreline along the bay. Within the national seashore, Fort Pickens Campground is known for its beautiful and well-managed campsites and amenities catering to recreational activities such as camping, fishing, swimming, and hiking.

All Fort Pickens campsites are available to book up to 6 months in advance with 24 hour booking window. First-come, first-served sites may occasionally be available for visitors who arrive at the campground before pm. Site are well spaced. Water and electricity at site. Dump station at entrance. I loved this place. The fort is so cool and the history of this place is fascinating. I like the campground, clean bathhouses, nice beaches and trails. The sites are a little bit close but not uncommon for national parks.

There are some low branches in CG A so be aware.

Hours above shown for Central Time Zone. I was in Loop E and all sites are back in sites with water and electric. Didn't really see campground hosts much so no enteraction with them. Dumpsters were a bit of walk from out site. They do have b Tip for Other Campers: Wonderful restaurants near the main part of Pensacola Beach but you would need to drive to that area. You can walk over the either side of the island to the gulf or bay side. Park was nice and quiet.

This is a popular trail for hiking, mountain biking, and running, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash. This was an easy hike with lots of places to stop and rest or use the bathroom along the way. It does sort of end at what feels like an arbitrary location, so we just turned it into a loop to get back on the trail for the return trip. It was nice and cool on our hike, but there is very limited shade and this trail will be far less enjoyable in the summer heat. One of my favorite trails in the area!
