Gamecube star fox adventures
Star Fox Adventures is a action-adventure game developed by Rare and published by Nintendo. The game had a long development cycle starting in Its planned release on the Nintendo 64 was cancelled, with development ultimately shifting forward one hardware generation to the GameCube. The game was released on 23 September as Rare's only GameCube game and as the final game that Rare developed for a Nintendo home console before being acquired by Microsoft the day after Star Fox Adventures was released in the United States. Players take control of Fox McCloud , who is sent on a mission to visit a planet in the Lylat System and prevent its destruction. Star Fox Adventures was a commercial success and received mostly positive reviews, notably for its detailed graphics, new designs of characters including Fox, and its dynamic environments. However, the voice acting and the departure from the traditional Star Fox -style gameplay received some criticism. The game is played from a third-person perspective with full camera control in most areas and the ability to use a first-person perspective for looking around a location, with the players able to use a widescreen mode, provided that their console is hooked up to a television set that has widescreen capabilities. The first style of gameplay is Adventure Mode, which is the main mode, and operates in a similar manner to that of The Legend of Zelda series, especially Ocarina of Time. The main character comes equipped with a staff after the initial stages of the game, which functions as both a weapon, and a tool for exploration and puzzle-solving. Combat is mainly melee-orientated, with players locking-on to an enemy upon moving in close. Once in combat, an enemy's health is displayed as a heart icon above them, with players able to strafe and roll around a target to dodge attacks, while using the staff to either block incoming strikes, or attack an enemy.

It was the final game developed by Rare for a Nintendo home video game system, before the company was acquired as a first-party developer for Microsoft's Xbox division. It is the third game in the series, succeeding "Star Fox 64". The entire game takes place on the world of Dinosaur Planet later renamed "Sauria" in "Assault" on the edge of the Lylat System, where the entire planet is breaking apart and four pieces of important territory are suspended in orbit, caused by the tyrannical General Scales and his SharpClaw army. In order to return to the pieces of land back to the celestial body, General Pepper hires the Star Fox team to recon and restore the damaged world to prevent it from destruction. Featuring Fox as the central protagonist, he must use his both his own pro adventurer and Arwing skills to travel between the four lands and Dinosaur Planet to adventure across them. Along with the vital SpellStones and powerful Krazoa Spirits, Fox will need to gather a collection of important items and artifacts to progress further across the natural woodlands and civilisations on Dinosaur Planet. Rather than using traditional militaristic weaponry and vehicles, Fox can use the useful offensive and defensive skills embedded within the powerful Staff left behind by Krystal.
Star Fox Adventures send you through a rollercoaster of emotions -- from fun to boredom, fast to slow, long levels to short levels, and epic adventures to cheesy flight sim action. But the game is overall enjoyable, if far from perfect. Star Fox Adventures has long been a work in progress. Randorn disappeared after the death of a son during battle, and Sabre vowed to find him. He would not do it alone, as his step-sister Krystal, whom Randorn adopted, was to travel with him on his adventure. A giant, friendly rock monster was your aide in switching between both playable characters. However, knowing the game would have to be considerably redone, Dinosaur Planet was bumped off the N64 release schedule and made a GameCube title. Obviously, the plot was altered considerably when turned into a GameCube Star Fox sequel.
