The idea of making a fishing rod wrapping jig out of a cardboard box isn't a new one, but I think I have a better version than the others I have seen so I wanted to share it with others.

Another option is to purchase a gift bag that is specifically designed for storing fishing poles, and then simply place the wrapped fishing pole inside the bag.
