The Ben Carson Story never set out to a gifted hands review film: this is obviously a film that appealed to Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr and he plays it very straight, gifted hands review, and underacts, without underplaying. As I am deeply fascinated by all things neurological this was a really easy film for me to get into - but even if you have no real interest, the human side of this will really sideswipe you.
Rather than settling in to a life believing he was inferior, underprivileged and discriminated against, Ben looked to God for help and became an astounding example, not just for black children, but also for everyone. The people who made this movie are to be commended for so clearly showing that God has the cure for self-doubt, anger and prejudice. It is the true story of a black child raised by a single mother who constantly encouraged him to use his God-given gifts. He grows from being a poor student to the top of his class and then to become a world-famous neurosurgeon. It would be hard not to be inspired by this movie. As the story begins, Ben played by Cuba Gooding, Jr.

Gifted Hands was a made for television movie that aired in I hate that we waited so long. It was nominated for four Primetime Emmys and a long list of awards. In my opinion, it should have won more. I was immediately drawn into the movie by. From beginning to end, every shot is beautiful and the editing together is a work of art. The writing, the acting, the music, everything is top notch. I would have never dreamed it possible to take a story about a brain surgeon and make it a cinematic work of art, and yet, that is exactly what director Thomas Carter did. I was inspired by her commitment to push them to excel despite the many obstacles in their way. I love the fact that he was willing to take a risk and perform a dangerous surgery when he was just an intern because there was no one else to do it. Gifted hands review it's being rated by emotional investment, it gets 5 stars. So many use baggage of every ilk to throw in the towel before the first starting whistle. The message of "you can be anything you want to be" is a theme.

As I am deeply fascinated by all things neurological this was a really easy film for me to get into - but even if you have no real interest, the human side of this will really sideswipe you. It is incredibly and really frustratingly slow in places, but bear with me - the surgeries are amazing and very moving. Overall I'm giving this a 9, not for the production writing filming or direction which are at best 6 or 7 at most, but because films like this deserve to be made, should be made, and should be what we want to be made Good, Moving, and Inspirational Was this review helpful?

This made-for-TV movie dramatizes the real life and career of Dr. Ben Carson, a neurosurgeon who, despite his humble beginnings, uses his Gifted Hands to bless the lives of children suffering from brain disorders. Ben Carson Cuba Gooding Jr. Yet, the prospect of performing a challenging operation where he will attempt to separate a pair of twins who are attached at the head which comes with a high risk of losing one of the babies , has him pondering the path that led him to this place in his life. Who could have guessed a young black boy growing up in an impoverished neighborhood would one day be a world-class doctor? Not even his mother—although she deserves most of the credit for his achievement. A single parent struggling with depression, Sonya Carson Kimberly Elise wants more for her family than she had for herself. So she pushes her two boys to read instead of watching TV and do homework instead of playing. She also insists they attend church regularly, whether or not she is well enough to go with them. Because she imagines a better world for her children, and perseveres against their complaints, both of her sons begin to succeed academically.

Raised in a time when prejudices were voiced at every turn, this young man shows that you can get beyond any challenge if you want to, though hard work. Kids making fun of boy; boy punches another, boy calls his brother dummy; mother discusses thoughts of suicide, boy buys knife, boy fights with mother and threatens her with hammer, boy loses temper; boy tries to stab another with knife, bloody sheets on a bed.
I grew up hearing about some of Ben Carson's amazing surgeries and remember reading about him when I was a teenager, probably, so I was excited when I heard about this movie. That's why he's a great actor. Story of Ben Carson head of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins. While the two make an interesting contrast, Thomas writes for a living; Carson does not. He became head of pediatric neurosurgery at John Hopkins University hospital. I, at least, felt his struggles, victories, and failures quite strongly. Why do we fault others? Uncle Tootie. One of those incredible things was separating conjoined twins that no other team would even attempt to separate and attempt to keep both alive -- it was an incredible surgery, one he profiles in the book.
