Gilda is a female griffon and supporting character in the series. She first appears as an antagonist in Griffon the Brush Off , and she makes subsequent appearances in later episodes, chapter books , and the IDW comics. She is called Gilda the Griffon in some merchandise. Lauren Faust 's concept art refers to Gilda as "Grizelda"; [3] this name was used in an audition script for Apple Bloom [4] and in hubworld. Not to be confused with Griselda.

She returns in the episode The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone as the main anti-hero. As a griffon, Gilda has the head, wings and feet of an eagle and the body and tail of a lion. Her head feathers form a fringe that hangs ahead of her face. Gilda thinks that she's cooler than everyone else and is not afraid to show it. She regards others as "lame" compared to her and can be quite vocal about it when not in the company of her friend Rainbow Dash. She seems playful and competitive around Dash but actually she's very rude, violent, bad-tempered, mean-spirited and arrogant with an inflated ego. She doesn't seem to care about others' feelings. When she's calm her voice sounds apathetic and bored and vaguely annoyed with lack of emotion. She's also a liar, hiding her true colors by forcing herself to act friendly towards Rainbow Dash.

Idk, i guess its like alot of the antagonists in the show, they aren't really made with alot of likable stuff being presented, i think really the only way to get a liking for them is from deeper analysis. If any of you still have a grudge on Gilda, please let me know why. Normally I don't like characters like Gilda, because I know too many people like her. She's not jealous, she was just mad because Gilda was being mean and cruel about the whole situation, which she assumes out of her sheer good nature is because Gilda needs to be cheered up. I under stand that when she as with Dash, she wanted some bonding time to "catch up" on things. I understand Gilda's point of rage of being pranked constantly during the party but even after she finds out it was Rainbow and not Pinkie she still walks out. I'm ok with Gilda, but making Fluttershy cry just really made me hate her for quite a while until I just stopped caring, but now I'm ok with her. She didn't have to be mean towards Pinkie. Thats why. She was once friends with Rainbow Dash and loved good old-fashioned pranks.

I grew up with a Gilda, the attitude was just him trying to be cool in front of his friends and was nice when we were hangin out, so I don't see Gilda as strictly a bad person. She rants on about being "cool", blindly mistaking the pranks as Pinkie's doing, and leaves in a huff when Dash tells her she should find other "cool" friends. Just like RD, I think Gilda is extremely insecure deep down. And she called everypony 'Lame' and threw a fit over a couple stupid pranks! I actually really, really, really like Gilda. We don't get a chance to see her good side due to the fact Pinkie Pie was basically harassing her and Rainbow Dash the whole time she was around. Sign In Join the herd! You have to see it like this, Pinkie's not jealous, she just see's everyone as a potential friend and doesn't understand why she's being driven away. Her personality is also very reminiscent of a typical "80's biker-girl" stereo type while it can be a bit annoying it's a unique trait about her.
