Adapting to life after a broken back and being paralysed from the waist down was one thing, but Giselle says the mental impact was harder to deal with after so long in hospital and losing her independence. She also found it difficult seeing how upset her family were and their feelings of helplessness. It took her time to adjust. Knowing there are always people there to support you makes it easier to move on with life and try things. We get to be part of something special. It feels amazing. Giselle is getting stronger every day and spent six months travelling around South America with her boyfriend before going on to Bali and Australia.
