Gmc acadia cranks but wont start
Things need to be tested before you buy parts you don't need.

Gmc acadia cranks but wont start
We had a Acadia come in with symptoms of timing chains. Customer shut it down one night, and went to start it next morning and it was a no start. Not sure how long it was cranked on. When it got to the shop in was a start stall while popping in through the intake, and at times Crank No Start. I believe O2 sensor for codes. Compared with known good, decided they was good. Before going in cylinder i quickly looked at Relative compression again and this time noticed my coil wasn't firing as soon as engine started cranking. Replaced the CKP sensor with no change. At this point i realized i made the wrong call most likely off of noise in my waveform Grounding off the block instead of a cleaner location. I move on to In cylinder of both banks, even with the unknowns of the coil firing, which did show a difference of overall compression and off some on valve timing from a known good, but even not having alot of training in in cyl testing, I didn't fill it wound be off enough to cause my problem. It should run.
You've got a lot going on with all those codes.
I volunteered to help some folks out that have fallen on hard times. They have a GMC Acadia that would not restart after stopping at the store 2 years ago. They need the vehicle to run so one of the spouses can go back to work. I stopped and bought a battery. When I got to the home I installed the battery and tried to start the vehicle. It is cranking and the scan tool displays about RPM. No hint of starting.
Many different issues can cause the problem. We cover all the likely ones in an order that makes sense when diagnosing the issue at home. This article is written with the assumption that you are looking for a way to get your GMC Acadia started now, and is meant to provide you with practical advice to help aid in the diagnosis. First, is your Acadia cranking over at all the engine spins when you turn the key? Or is the starter not engaging you may hear a clicking sound? Start by taking a look at the battery posts. If they are loose or corroded, it acts as a barrier that can keep the starter from getting the voltage it needs to crank the engine. If there appears to be green or white on them or the terminals, cleaning them may be what your Acadia needs to get back on the road. You can take your battery to the local parts store or even Walmart and have it tested to see if it still holds a charge.

GMC Acadia is a reliable road companion, but its a machine with hundreds of interconnected parts, and like any other machine it sometimes fail to deliver normal operation. In this article we go through most common causes of Acadia breakdown and how you can fix the problem. The most common causes that hinders normal starting operation of your Acadia are dead 12v battery, corrosion on battery terminals, and dead key fob battery. However, bad alternator, clogged fuel filter, broken starter, blown fuse, empty gas tank, immobilizer error, or any fault in the electrical system can also cause your vehicle not to start. Investigating more closely and doing a battery voltage test will clarify whether the starting problem is due to the battery. A test can be done to measure the voltage between the battery poles, check the acid level and assess the condition of the starter battery. If a new car battery has been installed, the battery may not have yet reached its full capacity. There is nothing to worry about. A new battery only develops its full capacity over time. The voltage of the battery on your GMC Acadia can be measured precisely with a multimeter.

Good job. They find the area of a problem by codes then use diagnostic skills to find the actual problem. One fuse is for each bank. Customer shut it down one night, and went to start it next morning and it was a no start. I volunteered to help some folks out that have fallen on hard times. Before going in cylinder i quickly looked at Relative compression again and this time noticed my coil wasn't firing as soon as engine started cranking. I live in Canada. I wouldn't know if the balance test was result of the water or injectors. This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Good find. As other have said, get rid of the old gas because it won't start the engine. It was my Tech2 as GDS2 isn't supported on this vehicle.

Craig Technical Support Specialist. Lorenzo Diagnostician. I can only assume the Relative compression was a effect of cylinder wash. I have to hunt down a vid on how to test the acadia crank sensor wires. That likely leaves either low pressure due to no fuel or a bad pump. Turned out that when I'd driven over some snow an electric wire beneath the car got pulled loose, killing the secondary side of the ignition. Car would not start, even after trying to jump it. No hint of starting. As i read back over my post i noticed i said i was using GDS2. Justin Mobile Technician. Today I took over fresh gasoline and put a few gallons in the tank. I believe O2 sensor for codes. I then gave the vehicle a shot of Ether. South Texas
I confirm. I agree with told all above. We can communicate on this theme.
